Re: Xerox explores sale of leasing finance unit: sources

Oce did that 10 years ago and went bust. They didn't realise how much they relied on the monthly rental income and how inflexible third party leasing companies are when you want to upgrade mid term. The financing arm is usually the most profitable side of the business. High interest rate to customers, low rates for them and if the customer goes bust you generally get you equipment back and at the end of the contract you get your gear back.

It leaves the Samsung dealers pissed off, I know that. We are not terribly happy with them. They came to our office and told us they were adding one of our competitors as a dealer. We told them they better find someone quick to sell it before we drop the line and they have nothing.

Not to mention HP will eventually buy the entire Xerox business, as soon as carl gets all the operating cost lower. Xerox is working on a strategy to sell. Re: Foxconn Lowering Offer for Japan's Sharp

I mentioned this three weeks ago when I saw the draw back from Foxconn. Sharp has no other alternative move but to accept whatever offer comes it's way. Huge loans are due April 1st to the Japanese banks. Wonder if Gou will stay with the same monetary commitment and get all of Sharp or lower the amount and stay with the same percentage from the original deal. If the offer is less, than Sharp will have to re work it's comeback plan, and I'm sure that comeback plan will affect many of the...

I don't care how much the copier division makes as far as profitability goes when that division is probably a small percentage of the overall company. My guess is it will go up for sale at some point. My bet would be to Samsung. I also don't see how that division is profitable based on what I see down the street. I kind of believe it about as much as I believed Ricoh in the dealer meeting a few years ago saying "regardless of the rumors your hear, the direct operations are profitable." From...

Many buyers including Apple have expressed keen interest in buying Toshiba Corp's semiconductor/ chip business. It is expected that the proceeds will more than cover all of Toshiba Corp's debt. http://appleinsider.com/articl...lash-memory-business Even if Toshiba Corp sold off its 50% interest in Toshiba Tec, it would not generate enough cash to make much difference in removing Toshiba Corp's debt. The sources for this story are not named nor any details confirmed by Toshiba Corp. Toshiba Corp could request Toshiba Tec (an independent subsidiary company) to buy controlling interest in its shares. This forced a big write down and loss on overstated assets for the last six month accounting period. Toshiba Tec has never been involved with the accounting...
