Re: Need HELP! Kyocera Color A3 question
Top three points I make when against Kyocera. #1. Take them color samples from your device and any Kyocera because the color output is sub par on all units. If you don’t have access to one look in your crm for an account you co-exist with Kyocera in. Or the next time you have a knock out make some samples and keep them in a binder. If color quality is important to the customer it will be a win. Another point is showing them you get what you pay for, meaning 3 tier color is what they have...

Copystar/Kyocera 7052ci and 8052ci are still current models as the 7353ci and 8353ci were just released. same goes the the 70/80ppm mono's. not sure when they will get discontinued but we can still order them as of today.

Re: It’s The End Of The Day With Ray! 2020 Who Will Educate Endusers
HI Ray and Happy New Year! The A4 Revolution will not happen until those A4 manufacturers provide A4 print devices with the A3 cost per page model along with advanced scanning and finishing. You're right that's there's only a small percentage of users that need 11x17. However 11x17 is only part of the picture with end users needs. Larger document feeders, and stapling is still a requirement in many offices. As you know we could debate this until 2021 or longer, but the end game is advanced...

John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

Re: Target GP Margins
I heard it through the grapevine a while back that RBS (at least in DFW) is no longer sending field reps out unless opportunities are above a certain value, meaning they are handling the sales process via telephone and email from start to finish. I see this as being the way things will be done in the future. From a business perspective, it makes sense if it allows dealers/direct to employ fewer sales people while generating close to the same revenue. If there is no value in a transaction...

I remember when the glass on the copiers had to move back and forth. I remember when copiers used liquid ink (toner) to produce an image. Looking for feedback on this. Has anyone sold these are had a chance to put hands on it and get an opinion. What type of service rates would you charge for toner inclusive service agreement on this?

Re: Kyocera finally put's out a low volume A4 Color
Yes I have sold a couple of these. For the price these are fantastic. My service manager is impressed which is hard to do. Dual side scanning is a definite selling point. The cost per page is going to be higher of course. I would say in the .015 black and white and .11 color to be safe (depending on your market of course). Not as good as say the 6535 per say but the machine is less than half the cost. If the run more than a couple thousand a month I would move them up to the 6535cidn. Let me...

Re: Compensation Question
I get paid strictly on GP, but I would be unopposed to a bonus structure for this model. 90% of my sales are new business, so I sell anywhere from 4 to 7 machines per month with 1000 to 2000 GP in each one.

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Hi Everyone, Thanks for your posts. Every year or two we see new, low cost competitors that come out of the woodwork for a little while. We are selling against these guys the same as you fight your low cost competitors. There are a few obvious detriments that seem to have stood the test of time. The revenue model can not possibly be profitable for 80% of your customers. Ridiculously low is exactly that, ridiculous and unsustainable. $500 worth of technical support will be used up mighty...

The new Pro Series Production Printers are successors to the highly successful Digital Document Publisher models, the DDP70e and the DDP92. Those models were initially brought into the Ricoh product family through the acquisition of Hitachi. Technically, the 70-ppm Digital Document Publisher 70e is being...

Re: Is selling at cost the future for print hardware?
I think this is hilarious. When all else fails within your business model turn to being the low price leader. What ever happened to selling value. I thought business were in business to profit. I would be curious if they stole their current business model from RBS. Being the low price leader will get you somewhere for segment 1/2 but you sure are not going to be a very healthy & profitable company long term.

Re: Is selling at cost the future for print hardware?
Merlin -- you are absolutley right...like any business there are several costs. but you never know if a dealer had special terms with a their manufacturer to order x amount - or if they were trying to acheive a certain level to hit their quoata or win some award? Really hard to speculate on a business model which we don't know anything about. But the one thing that I do know is that - these idiots are everywhere..... And quite frankly -- the people who want that type of partnership would by...

Re: Is selling at cost the future for print hardware?
If you can't speculate, how do you know they are idiots? The business model of selling products at a loss to gain future revenue is not new. Microsoft loses money every time someone buys an xBox, Dell gives away printers costing $1,000 for free, Razors and blades, etc. All of those examples have been very successful for years.

Re: A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Copier Demo/Appointment
Several years back we had a demo in a pastor's home office for a couple of days when he called in because the machine was misfeeding. We had been selling him on the reliability of this model, so he wasn't very pleased with the performance. When our technician went out he opened the side of the copier and found that one of the Pastor's kids poured cornflakes into the copier. We got it cleaned up and he bought the demo.

Re: A4s and Single Function Laser in MPS
OMG, the 3-5 has resurfaced in MPS??? That's was my first reactiion when I saw "toner out" and please tell me if I'm wrong. Toner out means that when the user runs out there is another charge due?
Reply
Re: A4s and Single Function Laser in MPS
no 3-5 is not back in MPS. Toner out is a way of describing the sales model for standard laser printers, where the aftermarket revenue is generated by the sales of toner and other supplies versus charging a set CPC for all supplies and service.

Re: Ricoh Introduces the Aficio MP 2851 and MP 3351 Digital Imaging Systems
They actually did away with offering spf models and the fax option just gets added to the base model, which includes s/p. GIntel's and mmelrod's comments regarding the changes are pretty much the case. Pricing is pretty much the same as the prior models configured as sp models. Yes, the same will hold true for the 40/50 series, not sure how soon to launch though. Attached is the SIG that details all 4 units.

Re: Ricoh Ikon Letter
It would seem that it all depends on where you structure your profitability. Since Ricoh is a Japanese manufacturer and sells its product to the US Ricoh company and then US Ricoh sells it to a dealer or direct, the profits can be structured to be very little if any in the US and very profitable in Japan. Ex: cost to manufacture is 10, sell to US mfg. sales concern for 20, US concern sells it for 22, dealers or direct sell it for 24. The cost of goods to the US is high and the profits remain...

Now, I'm thinking something is drastically wrong with either the current business model or the Ikon/Ricoh thingy. Time will tell. Would like to hear from others on this!

Re: MFP Losing IP address
Is it a static IP address or Dynamic? If it is a static IP, I do not see any way that rebooting the server or workstation could affect the IP programmed in the machine. Even if there's a conflict, the machine would still have the IP. Also, if it's static, there is nothing the switch/model/router could have to do with the IP address. If it's dynamic, then the device providing the IP could have an issue. In this case, I can't say if that's the server/modem/router. Honestly, the most likely...

Re: Another Ricoh Direct Give Away
Ford would LOVE to go with this model. Unfortunately, state franchise laws make it virtually impossible for auto manufacturers to eliminate dealers. That's why the domestics have two to three times as many dealers as they need, compared to the imports. This leads to lower average selling prices, lower dealership value, and a need to gather margin elsewhere. Such as muffler wax and windshield wiper protection plans. All in all, worsening the car buying experience. Some links...
