COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Twenty-Six of Sales
Tell me how this happens? My wife starting ordering food from a local company in New Jersey. I like it, she likes it and we're pleased with the service and the food. We started using them at the end of last year so it's not a COVID19 thing. One of the things I like is that in every book there is a recipe, instructions and a gloss brochure. Yup you guessed it..., the documents are printed in color and it means potential prospect! Maybe production also. Inspection of the box provided no phone...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Forty-Six of Sales
Yesterday I had my first appointment in the field in more than two months. It was time to get back in business attire, that meant the dress shoes needed to be shined, the pressed slacks removed from the closet and of course that neatly pressed dressed shirt that's been on hiatus for the past 10 weeks. Looking in the closed I spotted a nice blue shirt with very think white lines and thought that would do the trick for the day. As I reached for the shirt I thought that this can't be my shirt,...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Fifty-Six of Sales
Short blog tonight please Yay I was able to knock out about 30 calls today along with maybe 20 emails. I was able to set two appointments and added zero opportunities today. Earlier in the AM I received the docs for the two small A4 orders I was waiting on. Thus I'm finally on the books for June and sitting at a measly $6K. One of my wide format net new appointments went well this AM. This is the one where I pitched the pre-owned MP W6700. Client told me they want it all they need to do is...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Sixty Six of Sales
I have such a terrible stress headache tonight. When I get these the only cure is to get some sleep which I will be doing shortly. Today at sixty-six days marks a full quarter since I was optioned to working remotely. One quarter of the year has passed, and I'm thinking we've still got a another 30 days of this. So far working remote has been a very very good to me. No interruptions, not as many breaks, I'm more focused and spend less time chatting with others while I'm in the office. When I...

Business Hit with Six-fold Increase in Cybersecurity Losses in Past Year
A recent study by insurer Hiscox has revealed a six-fold increase in cybersecurity losses among businesses targeted in the past year, increasing from a median $10,000 (£8,051) per firm to $57,000 (£45,892). The international study, using findings from 5,569 companies across eight countries, shows a $1.2 billion rise in cyber losses to almost $1.8 billion, with the most heavily-targeted sectors being financial services, manufacturing and technology, media and telecoms (TMT). However, there...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Ninety-One of Sales
COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Ninety-One of Sales What a way to end the month! I pulled a zero today and I'm pretty bummed because nothing came through. I had three good shots at having a banner month, two of the opportunities kicked the can down the road and the other opportunity who told me it's a go was no where to be found. Another account that I've been dogging for more than 5 years. When I spoke to Tim later in the day I stated that in most cases buyers don't buy on our time lines, they...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Ninety-Three of Sales
COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Ninety-Three of Sales It's just about 10PM in New Jersey, and the temperature is still about 90 degrees. The last few days have been hot, humid and terrible to be outside unless you're planning a visit to the beach. COVID19 in New Jersey? Not much has changed since I gave my last update. We're in some type of holding pattern from the onset of Phase 2. The curve in New Jersey has been crushed for months now, the line is flat and yet our Governor keeps his foot on...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Ninety-Six of Selling
I had one appointment today and that appointment was more of a holding hands session with their new copier. I didn't mind because I put the top down on the hardtop and worked on my tan for about 90 minutes with the drive back and forth from the home office. Every time I drive to this client I take the same route. That route takes me past the Garden State Parkway and Route 520 exit. The parkway is a major artery that leads to North Jersey and that's where many of the jobs are. At this...

US GDP dropped 32.9% in the last three months, the worst in US history. Until the US Gov't effects a coherent national COVID-19 strategy, economic activity will not improve and those parking lots will not fill up anytime soon.

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Ninety-Eight of Selling
COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Ninety-Eight of Selling Copiers One of my goals for Friday was to make sure that I reached my goal of contacting twenty-five businesses. The plan was to get them all done in the morning since I had I thought my afternoon would be spent with one appointment and the writing of the large net new order for $58K. Just about Noon I received an email from my VP about that potential order. I responded with "I'm being patient", he responded with "don't be patient after...

COVID19 Remote Working Day One Hundred and Twenty-Six of Selling Copiers It's 10:24 PM with a cool breeze blowing in from the Ocean tonight. After a frustrating four day work week I finally packed it in about 5:30PM tonight. It had been a long week of phone calls, emails, inmails and texts. I was able to get docs for a small A4 black device late today. I'm hoping that will be the order that opens the flood gates with my 25 plus opportunities. I'm going to get a little off the rails here for...

COVID19 Remote Working Day One Hundred and Fifty-Six of Selling
COVID19 Remote Working Day One Hundred and Fifty-Six of Selling Copiers Monday sometimes the best and worst day of the week. I'm in the camp of "I Don't Like Mondays", because I truly love my weekends and anytime off is a good time. However today was a Monday unlike many other Mondays and that's because I was sick as a dog last night. Not the COVID but more or less a 24 hour bug that was horrid. It was about 3AM on Monday went I finally drifted off. Yes, I woke up late and yes I had a...

COVID19 Remote Working Day One Hundred and Sixty-Six of Selling
What can I say there really hasn't been that much to write about the last three days. I think as I get closer and closer to the end of the year these blogs may slow down even more. All depends if I can pack a few solid orders away there will be much to write about. November 9th and we had a 75 degree sunny day here in NJ. How many more of these days can we get? Anyway it's a pleasure to enjoy and spring can't come soon enough. New Jersey retreated on some openings today. Technically we are...

COVID19 Remote Working Day One Hundred and Seventy-Six of Selling
Today is 176 business days since I was optioned to working remote. Those 176 business days now totals eight full months that I've been in some sort of lockdown. Our Governor keeps toying with the idea that he may start additional lockdowns in the near future because NJ is now averaging 4K positive tests each day. I know he's blowing smoke out of his ass for two reason. One the State of New Jersey is flat ass broke, reducing the tax revenue stream will force a bankruptcy. The second would be...

COVID19 Remote Working Day One Hundred and Ninety-Two of Selling
COVID19 Remote Working Day One Hundred and Ninety-Two of Selling Copiers Last night one hell of a night. I could barely sleep with the sheets of ice that were bouncing off our slider window in the bedroom last night. What was suppose to be a snow event was more of an ice event with wind gusts hitting 55 miles per hour. We didn't lose power thus a traditional work snow day was just another work day because of our remote technology. I'm also grateful that I'm able to write this blog tonight.

COVID19 Remote Working Day One Hundred and Ninety-Four of Selling
Well......, nothing today. I wasn't able to connect with any one of the five opportunities today. All I can say is thank goodness there are still two days left! I'm sure some are probably trying to avoid me like the plague at this time, however that's not going to stop me from going my job tomorrow and day after tomorrow. I was able to get some prep work for some of the accounts that may have a chance of moving forward in January. There was no sense if making a ton of calls or emails since...

COVID19 Remote Working Day One Hundred and Ninety-Six of Selling Where do I start since I've come to the end of my selling days for 2021? Do I start with the fact that I was down the last day of the year this morning and knew that anything can happen to screw things up? The year is finally over, it was the year that started when I got back from vacation this time of year. My end of year vacation is a stay at home vacation and it allows me to get some things done at home and just relax. I was...
