Re: HP receives wave of customer complaints
I'm on this program at home. He was getting regular shipments of ink that he didn't order. You'd think that would be a clue. Technically, when someone cancels our maintenance contract, the toner in the unit becomes unfunded. We have every right to go and remove it. No one ever does but the unused toner has not been paid for.

Re: Riso Stops Offering Printed Brochures for Their Products?
From what I remember I do not think I would want to hand out brochures from a ComColor device. Were they not more for communication than presentation? I know it has been awhile for me so perhaps they have evolved. Just sayin'.

Re: Riso Stops Offering Printed Brochures for Their Products?
Rick: You are correct, brochures printed on the comcolor would be, well let's say not that impressive, unless they printed them on the "rice paper" which would probably cost more than buying a full color printed brochure!! Too funny!

Re: Riso Stops Offering Printed Brochures for Their Products?
I am not sure what you are talking about since RISO has stacks of brochures that are being handed out everyday. I know a year ago RISO was updating the brochures so maybe the end user was not able to get one in that transition time

Re: Riso Stops Offering Printed Brochures for Their Products?
this blog was from over a year ago. "Today, I get an email from my people that Riso (a company that lives and dies with putting ink on paper) is no longer offering full color printed brochures." I'm thinking that RISO reversed that decision on the brochures.

Re: Ink Based MFP's In The Market Place
Product acceptance may be the key. Have you ever seen a business class ink product that can match the image quality of a toner machine? I know they can in the production space. If they can go head to head with toner in the business class, then you have a possible game changer. My 2 cents...

I think Canon may think a lot of the quality. They listed Photo paper as an acceptable paper type.

Re: Ink Based MFP's In The Market Place
Ink is here to stay, however it seems like a slow adoption rate from many of the major manufacturers in the SMB market. Ink based MFP's could be the salvation to many service departments that have aging service technicians.

Re: Ink Based MFP's In The Market Place
I think that all may change with the Big Dog (Canon) coming to market with a great machine. Hey, we ain't talking HP Edgeline. The machine will fit in SMB and it looks similar to other machines.

Have you noticed the Kyocera 'link'? Take a look at the LCT on the right side of this Epson C20590...... it's the Kyocera PF-770 in Epson color.

Hey Art have you been seeing this machine out in the field yet? How is it performing if you have. Epson just sent me info on adding their product line, I gotta say I'm intrigued, but don't really see any reviews of the product from anyone I know in the industry.

Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?
I haven't seen one in the field yet. There are a few dealers on this site (pretty regular) that took that product on. @Jason H or eddy jones. they might be able to tell you more than I can. I do like the product though!

Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?
@printguy @Art Post We have not sold a single one yet. Most people seem to have no interest in ink. I like the product. It is a Kyocera finisher. The problem with the finisher is that it slows the machine down to half speed. So ultimately someone is getting a 50ppm system, not a 100ppm if you have the finisher. Space is an issue if you have the finisher. I talk about the product to everyone but most people revert back to a toner system. I don't think this is going to be a game changer as...

Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?
Thanks for the info @Jason H . That's unfortunate, however I get the aversion to ink. Looking at this product it appeared Epson had perfected it. However I don't think I could sell a copier that has a huge paper curl. I never thought it would have a page curl as there is no fuser.

Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?
I think the part of the problem is even though the ink is dry, it has a moist feeling to it. When it drops off into the trays there is a hump (see pic) that the paper drops out on. I think that is part of the problem with the curl. The prints look good and once I lay the paper out on a desk it flattens out but in my opinion it just does not demo well with regular paper.

Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?
interesting, I know wonder if Epson demonstrated the device with heavier paper at a few of the events I was at. I didn't see any curl. Not saying that it doesn't, but it wouldn't be the first time peeps did a "controlled" demo

Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?
Ill try to do a video once the machine gets back to my office. It is on a truck back from one of our branch offices now. I just don't think it demo's well in front of the customer.

Re: Epson 100 ppm Ink MFP
I went back the next day to see a demonstration on this unit. I asked to see a demonstration of mixed sized originals. I was told, "sorry we are only doing controlled demonstrations and can't show that", I then asked does the device have that feature? The rep answered yes. WTF, controlled demo's? Thus, I'm thinking they are hiding something.

Yes, Since Summer is winding down, I thought I'd get back in the groove with the glossary of terms for Color Label Presses. It was a few months ago when I went cold calling in South Jersey. Ink Based MFP's In The Market Place
How fast will the new ink-based products take over the A3 MFP laser market? Can we expect faster market acceptance with news from the Number One Copier Manufacture? No, I don't mean Sharp or Toshiba. Canon is moving forward with an ink-based A3 MFP. My opinion is that the market will accept the product and features faster than A4 products. Big changes coming to the marketplace when machines that require less service hit the market.

Re: HP Launches Instant Ink Subscription Program
Some time ago I read that HP loses around 40% on every inkjet device they sell. Razor and blades I guess. How much can it cost to make a low end printer that works for a couple years or whatever? Lets hope that HP doesn't figure out how to totally destory the supplies and service business for the rest of us. If it wasn't for super high OEM supply costs would the MPS biz be worth it? I hope they don't figure out a good way to lock out vendors with supply discounts and easy blended device costs.
