Re: The Death Of The B2B Salesperson [Infographic]

Art, I call Bull ****! At least for our industry, the copier industry! This may be true of a commodity (like envelopes, or coffee, or even a PC) but copiers, really MFDs require a lot of attention, both before and after a customer buys it. This article seems to be written by an old brick & mortar company that successfully transitioned to internet sales. This will work for any company that drop ships their products. And I agree that the MFD manufacturers would LOVE for this to be, or...

We have had some real good results with UniFLOW. We have used the Canon Prox card readers, as well as a number of different RFIDeas card readers. If you use the Canon \ NTware card reader you don't have to configure the meap app to talk to it, if you use the RFIDeas card reader you will need a CFG file and the proper web page to configure it. Your Canon Support guy (SE) will be able to help you figure out the right card reader. If you need an RFIDeas contact email me. Vince McHugh

Re: Ricoh Dealership in Minnesota will buy.......

Independent Dealers will never compete successfully with any Direct _BS branch on price. The _BS Branch has shown that they are willing to run their branches at a loss for years! We must sell at a profit, IMHO they should (Legally) have to also sell at a profit (Don't get me started on dumping). If you work for an independent dealer and you are trying to compete with a _BS Branch (that sells your product) on price then you are playing into their hands, and you are going broke. They can...

Re: Worst Experience with Nuance

VinceMcHugh ·
When Ed Schmid was running eCopy they had the best pre & post sales support in the industry. You could call an 800 # while onsite and get someone to answer the phone who actually knew the product better than you did. Those were the days when eCopy was a Canon only product. But Canon did not buy a controlling interest in eCopy so when their contract ran out, eCopy opened up to all copier manufacturers, and their support became poor, the rapid expansion overwhelmed them. I thought that the...

Art, It's not just Ricoh & RBS, we (Independent Canon Dealers) get the same thing from Canon \ CBS. Where you may have a case is IF Ricoh \ RBS is selling the their product or service below cost. They call it "dumping" and it is illegal. Bring it on, we will beat them by selling value! Vince McHugh

Will DaaS become the new normal for the channel?

With Microsoft announcing its managed desktop service within days of HP Inc updating its own model, Marian McHugh investigates whether DaaS is on the path to becoming the new normal for the channel. Device-as-a-service (DaaS) may not be a new concept to the channel, but when giants such as Microsoft and Computacenter enter into the fray, one can't help but take notice. Last month Microsoft finally confirmed rumours that it was launching its own answer to DaaS in Microsoft Managed Desktop...

Hi All, I just heard this from my Nuance Guy, now Kofax guy that all of Nuance Imaging Division (eCopy, AutoStore, Equitrac, CopiTrack, etc) was sold to Kofax. Emie, We compete against Oce & CBS all the time. We tell customers early on that we will not be the "cheapest" vendor that they look at. In fact if they are looking for the cheapest price they shouldn't be looking at us, because we provide the best value, not the cheapest price. When you break down the cost over a 48 or 60 month period how much more did you cost them for your better support? The other issue that "Printer Companies" have not figured out when it comes to MFDs is the Accessories. Customers like options! Hell, I like options! Our first choice for automating meter reads is Canon's ImageWARE Remote (for the reasons described above), Our second choice is PrintFleet, the DCA software can be configured for subnets to be scanned, and it automatically reports the meter reads to a Server in the cloud.

I heard about Nuance buying NSI when I was at the NTware (UniFLOW) Forum in Chicago last Monday & Tuesday. When you add in the rumors that Samsung may buy Nuance, it makes you go hmmmmm? For Samsung dealers like me, that would be pretty cool (Cat Bird Seat). But I could see how it would not be great for non-Samsung Dealers. But you shouldn't kid yourself that Samsung would ONLY be interested in their voice recognition software. You are "whistling past a graveyard" if you think that.
