Re: The End Of The Day With Ray! Don’t Screw Up Your Defining Moment

I've got shut down customers asking how we can help them because they can't operate. It sucks for us but it sucks way more for them. I have "suspended" an MA for one because they asked" no cost no expense". I was lucky enough to get my PPP loan in on day one, approved and closed. I live to fight another day but I don't think things will change all that much. Americans are not going to change everything because of Covid 19, I may be wrong (wouldn't be the first time) but this is a major...

Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days

SalesServiceGuy ·
More than a few copier/ printers are manufactured in Thailand and the Philippines due to low labor costs. I do not know but I think these products tend to be more low end A4 and printer products. I think most A3 product is made in China. I can only speak for Toshiba but I know the majority of North American toner is made in North Dakota. As I am from Canada, I am hoping with fingers crossed that this very likely US tariff war with China will not effect us.

Canada charges a 270% tariff because the US has a massive over supply of milk production. If US dairy product was to enter Canada without tariffs it would destroy our perfectly working dairy industry. Why should the USA be allowed to destroy our milk industry so as to partially solve a problem created within the USA? Besides, how do you think Canada maintains its "free" single payer health care system. It is by charging high taxes on all consumer purchases. I do not think that anybody thinks...

No mention of printers. No mention of toner. Unless China makes serious trade concessions to the USA, without retaliatory tariffs of its own on USA made goods sold in China, the 10% tariff will rise to 25% on Jan 01 2019. Yup, it's a pretty BIG Hammer! I heard a radio report that the US trade debt rose significantly in July. I'm thinking what you stated is that "many of the manufacturers have stuffed thier warehouses". That's probably why we haven't seen anything to date with increases.

Re: Can I Copy Mixed Sized Documents on a Copier?

SalesServiceGuy ·
Sorry, I meant to say a mix of A4 and Legal size documents. I agree most copiers should be able to do mixed size originals with a combo of A3/A4 and Letter-R/Legal. The problem I am having and I do not think it can be done is one of a mix of A4 and legal mixing North American and European sized paper in the same document. This is because the two paper sizes are of different widths.

Re: 911 Remembered

darrell_amy ·
I heard the news on the radio as I was driving to the airport. I remember going down to the Southwest gate and seeing everybody standing around the televisions as we watch the second plane crashing of the towers. As I left the airport, planes were one after the other landing in lining up on the runway. I'll never forget how surreal that moment was. Today as I was checking in at the American Airlines counter at the Des Moines airport, everyone paused to observe a moment of silence.

I find it interesting that if you go to www.lexmark.com and search their website for "investor relations" or "financial statements" you get no response. If you search the NYSE or NASDAQ you will not find Lexmark except in the past tense. In the USA, Lexmark's Chief Financial Officer came from Huawei in 2017 and was first educated in Shanghai, China. To be fair, most of Lexmark USA's Senior Executives and Board of Directors seem to be of the highest quality and American descent. One has to...

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, a customer is someone who buys goods or services from a store or business. Getting to the heart of the matter, if sales people are unable to uncover a personal or emotional need for the prospect to make a change, then they might consider breaking off the meeting, thanking them for their time and move on to the next prospect. Avoid Insulting the Customer Obvious, right? Well, people do it without even realizing by using comments like "did you understand that?" and "are you following what I'm saying?". This automatically shrinks the customers' intelligence and ability to catch on. It is down to your own ability to make the customer understand and therefore if you feel the customer is failing to do so, use comments such as "did I explain that clearly" and so on.
