Interesting about what a difference 10 years can make in an industry. Just this week Canon profits will drop 80%. Ten years ago they had posted a profit that had tripled. Recently we had a contest for all of the salespeople at Stratix. It was not a demo contest but more about telling the awesome Stratix story to our clients. There were judges and then group winners for each branch. The group winners would then have the face off. Years ago we had this contest and I failed miserably, I was so bad that I wanted to be shot. I have a hard time memorizing anything that has to be word for word, not sure what my issue is but I have an issue. This will make a good...

I've been in the copier industry for 40 years. Our industry has always been somewhat recession proof since we provide technology services. With another round of lay-offs in recent weeks it seems our industry is not immune to COVID19. We must be prepared for doing business in a post COVID19 business world. Which means protection of our workplace along with putting safeguards in place to protect our clients while we are in their place of business. These plans need to be developed and finalized...

Back in 2005 I was just 2 years into having a real web site for the copier industry. I started back in 2000 with an message forum with MSN communities. It was really cool because there was no on-line forum where sales people and principals could chat, share ideas, share war stories, share information, share competitive info and the list goes on and on. Twenty years later there is still no site like the Print4Pay Hotel. Did I do something right? We're still the only site that allows members...

Re: Why I Still Cold Call in Person!

I too am in non metro area and there is a lot of oil and gas here that are not headquartered here so I understand why you ask if they are a local company. However, you are making a huge mistake if you assume that just because they are not local, that they have no control or influence over the equipment they get. There are a whole host of companies that don't wish to get involved with the purchasing decisions of their outlying branches, especially if they only have a handful. You still need...

I've heard of dealers doing seat licensing on smaller tabletop printers for MPS accts but not for larger MFP's. I've heard this being done in the Chicago Metro market place. Chicagoland adopted the MPS programs real early & the BTA dealers have really penetrated the market in a big way by now. The dealers are now fighting to differentiate themselves & offer something different & this seat licensing seems to be the new buzz. I never heard of it being done in any other geographic...

Not knowing what competition abounds on this forum, it'd be like giving away our secrets to getting in on a deal. I've found a simple, quick intro followed up with a request has worked. Getting into specifics if you have them from your CRM has gotten traction, but it all really depends on the customer. One big thing, in particular these days, is the fact that I'm sure DM's or...
