What we know at this point is that is you are involved in offering financing to businesses in California, you will be subject to this...

Konica Minolta Says It Has No Plan to Counter Oce Bid (Update1) By Mariko Yasu Nov. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Konica Minolta Holdings Inc., the Japanese lens and office-equipment maker, said it has no plan to counter Canon Inc.’s offer to buy Oce NV for 730 million euros ($1.1 billion). “There’s no plan to make an offer to Oce at the moment,” Minoru Ikehara, a spokesman at the Tokyobased company, said by phone today. Found this on the web today:: By Pavel Alpeyev Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Orbis Funds, the asset manager that opposed takeover offers by Warren Buffett and Citigroup Inc., rejected Canon Inc.’s 730 million euro ($1.1 billion) bid to buy unprofitable Dutch printer maker Oce NV as too low. Canon’s 8.60 euros-a-share offer “significantly undervalues” Oce’s assets, and Orbis doesn’t want to sell its stake of about 10 percent at that price, the Bermuda-based manager of $20 billion in assets said in a...

Re: "What is" Section 179
Leasing and Section 179 Did you know that your company can lease equipment and still take full advantage of the Section 179 deduction? In fact, leasing equipment and/or software with the Section 179 deduction in mind is a preferred financial strategy for many businesses, as it can significantly help with not only cash flow, but with profits as well. Non-Tax | Capital Lease The main benefit of a non-tax capital lease is that you can still take full advantage of the Section 179 Deduction, yet...

Re: Samsung Pushes Into Crowded A3 Market
I've never liked the GUI's on their A4's, I thought it was a more print centric device. If their GUI remains the same, I'm thinking tough existing A3 customers will have a tough time with the interface. I think the MSRP for 25ppm device is high, sctually very unless it comes with an additional paper bank and finisher. So far that's it from me, I haven't had the chance to do much research on these devices.

Re: 0% Copier Financing
0% Interest financing is a popular financing tool across the board - you see it in the auto industry, furniture, IT (such as your apple example). It has never been a big seller in the Office Equipment industry business due to the business model that the dealers/manufacturers sell with. Many dealers are selling FMV leases (we like the upgrades)and not highlighting to the customer the actual cash purchase price of the equipment. 0% works best when a customer see's a purchase price (let's say...

Re: I have a buyer in South America
Just read this post and wanted to add my comments. I ship a lot of product outside the USA and there are 2 important points that will protect you: 1. Ship all products using INCO Terms EXW your location. This means the buyer is responsible for all shipping, duty & taxes once the product leaves your possession. 2. Maintain a wire account with a minimum amount of money in it. Have the buyer wire the money to this account and as soon as the funds hit your account transfer the money to your...

Re: Padded Lease Rates
0.019584 Means 4% And its not a "pad" its the same reason that Banks get a lower interest rate than you and I can on a mortgage. Imagine this a bank is borrowing at .025 percent from fed and lending at .0375 to you and me. Thats a 50% percent "Pad" our industry marks up only 4-10% and most of that is eaten up by administrative costs. Sales is break even at best, the real money is in the ongoing annuity and revenue stream from service.

Re: Leasing Company Copiers are Underwater
So, do you think it would be ethical for the leasing company to go after full stream of payments plus residual in the case I described??? I don't begrudge the leasing company a fair return on their outlay of money but to want the full stream plus residual 4 weeks after funding is excessive. That's making 40% interest on their money for a one month investment. Would you be happy as the leasing partner???? I doubt it. Keep in mind your reputation as a salesperson is attached to how your...

Re: Leasing Company Copiers are Underwater
Well, of course. We all understand that there is NO question of ethics, both parties signed a contract and agreed to obligations. Both took on risks. Now one party has experienced those risks. Is GA entitled to what the contract says they are entitled to after 4 weeks, or only after 5? Five is pretty short... maybe they get what the contract says after 15 weeks, but not 14? Or maybe they get what the contract says if the contract goes to term but they eat it if anything bad happens prior to...

I'm all for a Federal Sales tax, like they have in Europe. Just think, you could get your check from your employer with no taxes taken out (except Social Security), put it in the bank and gain interest with no taxes paid, buy and sell stocks with no taxes on the gain/loss, etc., etc. The only time you'd have to pay tax is if you actually bought something (and unprepared food would be exempt from tax). This sure sounds like a win-win-win to me. For the poor, they get a tax cut because they...

So, I'm correct in assuming that your volume is 100,000 pages a month? How many sheets are in the box of paper and what type of paper are you using? When printing are you producing multiple pages of one page? If so how many pages per? Depending on how they answer will dictate where I would go with this. My gut reaction is that maybe I can sell...

Re: What would you recommend?
Ted, How many lines are handling this volume? Your cost of operation would be very high on the 5510's. You might consider a bank of 1515F's to handle the job. The 2035,2045 wouldnt really help with the volume other than cost of operation, of which the acquisition cost would probably offset a lot of the savings. Just my two cents. Good Luck.

Hey, you can go to a bank and get a better rate than the leasing companies. however are you planning on owning this at the end of term? If you are, go the bank and you can cut me a check, however here is the reason 90% of why my customers lease. 1. The do not have to use there cash or disrupt thier cash flow. 2. Companies who buy equipment end up holding on to it for too many years, and then the equipment becomes counter productive. In 4 or 5 years there will be better equipment that will...

Re: Providence Capital Funding - Beware
Just another reason I don't do business with lease companies. Some maybe quite good (I hear good things about Great America), but I want to control what happens at the end.... Find a local bank, explain what you do, assign them the lease. You bill the customer and bank debits the payment from your account. E-automate makes it really easy... Have about $1.5MM on the books (including MPS contracts) and hope to hit $2MM by end of year. Never loose a customer because of the lease - rarely loose...
