Tx, awesome post! The conclusion for managed IT was at our own round table and not the general audience. One of the dealers in my group is heavily involved with managed IT, and thought it would be great offer. Yes, it was stated that MNS is only used by copier dealers and should be referenced to what you described. TY for the awesome reply!!

JWS- Good luck getting your machine to count correctly! We went round and round with Ricoh and our rep about this. They swear it counts correctly, we know it doesn't. You are correct in that it can be application- dependent; some apps will click correctly, but Acrobat prints, when there are mixed originals, usually treat the whole job as color. I experimented with different drivers (PCL / PS3 / Universal PCL), but could never resolve the issue for our client (a church). BTW, the ame doc...

Yes, I remember once seeing a "bid" that had a requirement of a 90-day, no-obligation trial. At the time, I joked "They'd only need to get 4 guys to bite on this and then they wouldn't even have to buy a copier!". Exactly one year later, I saw the same "bid" from the same company. I guess it's working out for them. We declined to participate both times.

In the first round of 700 emails that I have sent out so far, I have sold one 20 cpm Colour and quoted a KIP wide format to customers that I would have never met otherwise. I hope to get to 2500 emails sent once a quarter a year from now. That would be 10,000 emails a year prospecting to new customer's As the message I send is very small with no pictures or web links, I do not get shot down by many web filters. So far only a handful of people have asked to be deleted from the list.

Rule of 2 & 3 for leasing

Rule of 2 & 3 for leasing I find the easiest way to quote a monthly lease cost while with a prospect is what I call “the rule of two and three”. This works for quoting 36 and 60 month terms in your head. Round up the purchase price, thus if the purchase is $8,800 round up to 9,000 and multiply by 3 and drop the last two zeros. Lease price would be $270. Use that same method for 60 months, but replace the 3 with a two. I use will use the word “around” $270 and then use a calculator for...
