So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

This is pretty impressive, but has been around for several years. There have to be significant issues that have prevented adoption. I suspect that clogged nozzles are a really expensive problem for intermittent use machines, and imagine the level of ink wasted keeping them fresh. Folks throw a fit about a $600 print head for a Canon plotter and it's guaranteed for a year. I see a limited market for this.

A deal like this could blow up in your face.... I'd sell them a new machine and it's all going to be on how you do your proposal. As fisher states your probably going to sacrifice profit on this one. Use only MSRP pricing for the new deal, they bought from you once, most likely they will do the same again. Charge for all of the extras like delivery, install, training, support. If you can get the 600 per month looks like you can get 13K for the new system. So, you take the list price and all...

I am going to sell a C431DN to print envelopes only, will have four paper trays and I figure I can load about 600 or so envelopes in all of the trays.

Your looking at $600+ which would take years to pay for in ink/master savings not to mention the inconvenience of having to switch cylinders back and forth depending on original size. I think you will also find that the end users will not comply and just continue to use the 11x17 drum for 8.5x11 copies rather than hassle with the change.

There are also strange people out there that no matter how much you show a benefit, won't spend $600 on the kit because they can drill the holes themselves. They just don't value their time, sometimes.

Good morning: The truth of the matter is that the Xerox DC systems are 2400 dpi, but at 1-bit. And KM is at 600 dpi, but 8-bit. keep in mind that there is also a third factor that dictates image quality, and that is the dither pattern, which is essentially how those individually modulated dots are placed next to each other to create the illusion of shades and tones. The problem is that it can't be easily quantified, so no one talks about it. At the end of the day, don't get caught up into...
