Re: What's the weirdest place you've sold a copier to?
Picking up a signed order in the morning for a Canon color with hole punch and staple, from an Amish farmer-printer. Best two parts of the qualification process was having to run samples of a digital plate to run his offset presses and ensuring the power was in spec to be run off of his diesel generator/alternator set up. Oh yea, and he's got a tow motor we have to use to get it to the second floor. Been selling almost nine years and have been in lots of unique places too. Starbucks roasting...

Very curious if this will fly, I'm concerned over how long it took to launch and if there were issues of some sort. We are a Kyocera dealer so we will be hearing more about it soon.

Re: Saudi-Based United Carton Industries Company Invests in Digital with EFI Nozomi Corrugated Printer
Ever since I saw the name Nozomi I was curious where it came from. I found this on wikipedia Nozomi ( Japanese : のぞみ , lit. "Wish" or "Hope," and known before launch as Planet-B ) was a Mars orbiter that failed to reach Mars due to electrical failures. The mission was terminated on December 31, 2003. Re: RISO ME9450 Questions
Aside from RISO's SF5130, all of their duplicators now come standard with a network card for network printing. However, printing from MAC OS requires ordering a Mac Driver which requires a license key ordered from RISO - doesn't cost anything to order. Also, RISO's Mac Drivers are always behind with current Mac OS versions. They haven't released a driver compatible with OS X 10.15 even though it's been about 6 months since 10.15 was released. Sorry I'm late to the party.

Imagine a CMYK copier, except remove the CMY toner and developer and insert a new Erasable Blue (EB) toner and developer. Modify the copier so that when the Erasable blue toner passes back through the heat of the fuser, it de-colorizes the blue to white. A new rules based print driver can automatically makes software apps like emails auto print in blue plus provide a new counter to show how much paper, CO2 and money you saved. Re: Canon imageRUNNER Advance C3535i questions
when you load the bypass tray it will auto recognize the paper in a pop-up menu, and if you look closely there is a section near the bottom where it shows what a media is defaulted and a button that says “change “. This is where you would program in the media wait. I believe it would be heavy six, if you hit the details button on that screen you will see it by GSM The varnish would be questionable. I’m thinking, try using the selection for “2nd side of printed media”

It's hard to place an accurate count on the number of trees we lose over a span of time because of the size of the number. Easier to track the loss of areas designated as forests since that highlights the biggest change, usually from nearly 100% of the surface area covered by trees to nearly 0%. The number of trees in a forested acre obviously varies wildly (from about 200 to well over 1,000 per acre), but let's use 500 to start. 500 trees per acre would equal 44 billion trees lost over the...

Re: A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Copier Demo/Appointment
I received a telephone help call from one of our clients who had a malfunction code on their new copier. To clear these malfunction codes it’s usually a case of opening the front door for a few seconds and then closing it again. I asked the client to do this and then come back to the telephone. He returned a few moments later and asked “now what” I asked what happened when he opened and shut the front door, did it clear the code. “no’ was the reply, “it just got colder in here” He’d opened...

Toshiba manages 17 of 55 nuclear reactors in Japan including at least two of the reactors at the stricken Fukushima plant. The reactors are all made by GE Version 1, which is an old design. Toshiba's share price has declined 26% in the last two days but recently rebounded 5%. Many Japanese workers are being asked to work from home to save electricity and transport. Commuter traffic in Tokyo is way down as low level of radiation in the city keep residents off the streets. Foreign Bankers are...

Hi Art, Hope below help you understand the situation. This information came from industry analysts. OEMs Canon: Some plants are still not operational. They are facing serious shortage of Polyester from Kao. Biggest damage for MFP production is aspheric lens production at Utsunomiya plant. This is a key component for their MFPs, and recovery may take months. Tohoku Ricoh: Some of the facilities restarted operation, but not for chemical toner. Re: NY Times Article about Ricoh Japan
I think the title is a rosey picture, however there are many problems other than the manufacturing plant such as damaged shipping port in Sendai, road infrastructure, and still rolling black outs. Japan does not have the network of roads that we have here in the USA. Toner is still a big issue, and I don't believe what the Japanese government is telling.

The root cause of the feud is a couple of very small uninhabited islands off the coast of Japan. Both countries want to claim sovereignty. The value is in the rich fishing grounds and possible oil underneath the sea. Panasonic has already closed at least one plant in China as a direct result. We can only hope this does not impact the MFP industry.
