I was being facetious when I mentioned Sears. Just trying to make the point that its not that easy. MPS is easy. Cross train tech guys on HP and Lexmark, that already know imaging basics and turn them loose. Then your synergies take over. Your regular reps sell it and you don't need a stable full of specialists that are persnickety to say the least maintaining it.

Sometimes the gap between the dealer rate and the reps rate is due to a lower rate negotiated by the dealer in return for using ABC Leasing vs XYZ Leasing or it may be tied to a promised annual volume that if unmet, results in a chargeback. Regardless, it's not wrong or immoral. It is what it is, just like cost markup or delivery charge or whatever. I've had this error come up a number of times. Even though the machine has paper loaded, it doesn't know it. Unloading and reloading both media rolls has always fixed it for me. Maybe the sensor feedback gets mixed up during a jam, sudden reboot, or anything else the machine's logic wasn't expecting.

I don't think this would work for the customer as they need to have the lever up so that they can print to both upper and lower exits. If it is the lever that is messing up the logic, they will still be in the same predicament. Thanks for the suggestion!

logic would tell me this is not a relable if it is not to be released until 2005. If Ricoh was relabling another OEM they would not have specs for a machine a year out. Would they? I think 4 months (if that) would be all another OEM would give on a machine in the works. JG

I have used FM Audit, Print Audit and @Remote. Neal is right but I think we have spoken about that before. My results have been a bit better with FM Audit than Ricoh's lab testing but I spoke to Mark Pollack (sp?) about the FM Audit test and he told me it consistently missed 60% of the printers on the LAN network. They all have their quirks and they all only give you volumes - not costs. I need good data gathering tools as I do about 12 assessments a month now. I couldn't find anything...

Hey Jeff, Art's Box Approach (I believe) is using 4 different methods of communication: Phone Call LinkedIn Email In-Person Cold Call You "box" the prospect in until they finally give you the time of day. Using all 4 methods of communication ensures that you are optimizing your ability to reach the DM via his preferred method.

Okay, thanks! I have the phone call, Email, In-person aspects covered. I use LinkedIn to find the right person—I don’t use it for communicating with them yet.
