I wouldn't know, either we don't have access them or they are just available for Direct. It's been my belief that it's just a marketing ploy and all of the systems in the signature series still have to be configured. I could be wrong. Can anyone else chime in? How about some of you from the Direct side!

Top three points I make when against Kyocera. #1. Take them color samples from your device and any Kyocera because the color output is sub par on all units. If you don’t have access to one look in your crm for an account you co-exist with Kyocera in. Or the next time you have a knock out make some samples and keep them in a binder. If color quality is important to the customer it will be a win. Another point is showing them you get what you pay for, meaning 3 tier color is what they have...

John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

If I am hearing this right, you have two issues...USB access and driverless/wireless printing. Others have USB printing, we don't. John, I don't know if this is still a live issue for you but I thought of you while reading up on the Fiery Controller Option for the C2800/C3300 and the C4000/C5000. In an FAQ Document under wireless printing options it states, "When printing from USB removeable media, the Fiery will print Postscript and PDF File formats. If the Fiery has internet access and the Native Document Conversion option (i.e. EFI PrintMe) then you can also print native Microsoft Office Documents from your USB..."

wow, thanx for that! I thought we were safe with the lastest Ricoh security measures. Are we? I knew older copiers were very suceptable to getting information, however with recent upgrades with Ricoh products are we safe? Seems like none of us are safe except for pulverizing the drive as you stated. How is everyone else handling this? Is the CBS guy blowing smoke, or are there criminals out there buying copiers just to get access to the hard drives and if so, it's gotta be a hot and miss...

Much faster access time, 100% reliable, no moving parts, can't crash the drive head with sudden loss of power corrupting drive. Much smaller, lighter, much lower power consumption. Much less heat generated. Much less headaches for Service Dept compared to HDD as there is virtually no service required. An SSD can fit mechanically into the same hardware slot as a HDD. I would say you answered your own question. Why would you double the cost of a component of your copier when the benefits are negligible? You mentioned faster access time which is true. Don't you hate standing at the copier while the screen is saying "Please wait, Accessing Hard Drive?" You mentioned 100% reliable, which is not true. They are certainly more reliable, and there's no concern about drive heads, but once again, not a lot of problems there. The most common issue with hard drives...

Yes, I am getting the same feeling about this low margin business. I am hoping if it help gain access to a new account, it could open the doors to quoting on the customers copiers. Also, it could be useful as a "Wrap Around" sales tactic against National copier Vendors. By this, I mean it is probably difficult for Xerox or Ikon to bundle them into their quotes. scanning is thru a network only. Why not use the Ethernet port, connect a WAP to the Ethernet port and then connect the WAP to the wireless network. WAP = Wireless Access Port. You can get a wireless switch to act as a WAP pretty cheap and don't have to run around in circles.

The demo and product were great. I have some questions about latency with on-premise SharePoint and Exchange. I would think UDOCX would access to both from the Internet which means users would have to configure their sites for external access. Obviously with a complete cloud solution using Office 365/BPOS this is not an issue. I just attended a Microsoft event for Office 365 and it is quite an improvement over BPOS.

Joe....can you get access to Canon? They make a very affordable 3200 series box. That comes in 25, 35 and 45ppm versions. Depending on your customers scanning needs and if PCL or PS is needed. Look for the "i" model. Like a 3235i or the 3245i. You can also get the non "i" model as well. What are the criteria that you customer is looking for? I think your customer would appreciate that he now has Canon the leader in the industry. You will not do your customer wrong with a Canon.

Joe.....sounds like Sharp1 is bias on the 453. I agree with sharp1 that the 453 is a nice unit. But doesn't any 45ppm unit run 5000-20,000/mo? That is the norm for that segment. I should know I worked for Sharp and sold these exact systems. But I have to say if you have an customer that is already not happy then you try to sell them a system with all those extra bells and whistles when they don't want or need then....well you are adding fuel to the fire. I am not sure why MFP dealers would be trying to promote printing less pages thereby reducing their click revenues while increasing the % Toner coverage on each printed page. I see value in the product and like how it reformats documents before you print them. You could definitely save on your paper costs. Good job! If they are using MIFARE cards you should be good to go. Just make sure you get a sample to test. Remember just because it reads the card does not mean it will track for bill back purposes. That is where a software solution comes in. I forgot to ask what Canon model are you considering? Make sure it is an advance series. Do you have access to Canon ISG Central? They is an entire presentation on AAProx that you should definitely know the in's and out's BEFORE you meet with the GM.

Unfortunately NSI is not available on Canon's in the USA. They do work with Canon's in Europe, so they CAN work with Canon's but someone at Canon USA has made a "marketing decision" NOT to allow them access to the USA market. I do hate when the MFD manufacturer tries to over regulate the solutions that they want to work with their smart MFDs. If you look at what they are currently doing 60K per month per device PRINTING is high volume, obviously they have some specialist jobs they are producing? Making a few presumptions here but I would have thought you could change the goal posts and go back and say we will give you two high volume printers and an MFP. Montecore, eCopy SSOP is still my go to solution when I need a specific connector. They have over 250 connectors for their SSOP product. If eCopy has a connector that would be your best bet. While Nuance support is not great you could buy this through Cranel Imaging to get access to their help desk and support. Hope this helps! Vince

I am surprised Sharp is not beating their drum more about this as I think it is an industry first. I have been involved in several mobile print installs lately and they sometimes involve allowing non employees to use a companies wireless LAN. Usually you also need a PC turned on all of the time with a wireless app like Breezy installed and running on a local PC. This could be potentially problematic from a security point of view. Art, the info on HDD security or lack thereof is common knowledge in I.T. land. In the overwhelming majority of cases it requires direct PHYSICAL access to the drive. Notable exceptions would be: a) bad code (bugs) allowing remote access b) getting pre-loved kit off ebay or equivalent or returned as pickups when upgraded either way if you really wanted to be secure you can make your environment prohibitive to potential data thieves.
