Re: Print Copy Tool versus Plotworks
John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

Re: JOINT STATEMENT BY SHARP ELECTRONICS CORPORATION AND EDWARD MCLAUGHLIN
Sharp MFP's have been able to do that for years as well, 3 customized buttons on the main screen, the new UI will allow you to put up to 18 customized buttons on each page, with up to 15 pages available on the Home Screen, this can be done from the panel. You can also add buttons for any of the OSA connectors you may need, for example a connection to your Document Managment System, Fax Server or Cost Accounting application. There are 24 loaded languages that can be easily tied to the user's...

This is all fine and dandy in a Windows environment. I don't see it applicable in Enterprise environments. Enterprise meaning AS/400, HP UX, AIX, Linux or UNIX platforms.

Re: Gas Price Check
First, that was pretty insulting. Second, let me clear up my person beliefs on this subject. I believe that gas prices fall around the time of an election. That's it. As far as the why and how of it, I don't know and I provided that information in response to your question. I think some of the confusion you have is in finding a motive for a price drop. The motive is that higher prices mean more anger at the incumbent. The incumbents in the elections we are looking at are the Republicans...

Re: Gas Price Check
I got this today... Are you aware that the Saudis are boycotting American products? Shouldn't we return the favor? Can't we take control of our own destiny and let these giant oil importers know who REALLY generates their profits, their livings? How about leaving American Dollars in America and reduce the import/export deficit? An appealing remedy might be to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up your car you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just purchase...

Re: Gas Price Check
Snopes says: Origins: The two most important basic facts about this misguided scheme for lowering gas prices are: • It was written several years ago, when the world oil market was considerably different than it is today. • It wasn't accurate even at the time it was written, containing many gross statistical errors and exhibiting a severely flawed grasp of oil industry economics. Although the message quoted above doesn't address where (outside of the Middle East) we import oil from, many...

Re: Backup Differentiators
Being able to educate customers on the differences between file-based and image-based backup is key to marketing and selling data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) solutions and offerings, so how can managed services providers (MSPs) lay these differences out? MSPs can help promote image-based backup by educating customers and potential customers on the differences of backup solutions. Advertisement <noscript>lt;divgt; lt;a...

Re: Ricoh MPC 8002SP Web Browser Review
Art - Please note that the optional Smart Operation Panel does not support the MP C8002SP engine. That is an option on Ricoh's new new 30/35/45/55/60 Color MFPs.

I think he probably posted that because you have a picture of the Smart Operation Panel at the top of the blog article.

Re: Ricoh MPC 8002SP Web Browser Review
I was more concerned by the subject title that was called "MP 8002SP Web Browser Reviewed". I just didn't want any confusion that the new color '02 models supported Smart Operation Panel.

Re: To Ricoh "What I Want for Christmas"
The best thing Ricoh could give us is advanced scanning functionality as a standard feature. To be able to navigate to whatever network folder a user wants would be huge, as would the ability to scan to Word or Excel. Canon already has these features, so we are at a huge price disadvantage if it is functionality a customer needs since we have to add ICE (which has a less-than-desirable UI) or NSI AutoStore.

Re: New Ricoh Signature Series Color MFP's on the Web
Get a quote from a Ricoh Professional...Now that's funny. But don't worry the dealers are the most important part of Ricoh's strategy and plans going forward. They can't even update the Savin or Lanier site. Being a Savin dealer I have people rather frequently who go on the site and are turned off by how old and outdated it looks.

Re: New Ricoh Signature Series Color MFP's on the Web
Will be interesting to see what, if anything, ever comes of it. We have talked a lot before about leads from the manufacturer. Maybe, just maybe, that request a quote will be shared with dealers as well. Of course with is being a Savin dealer I won't hold my breath that "Ricoh" will send us leads. I've gotten a couple in the last few years but they came from the Savin website requests. Not sure what I've gotten from Ricoh lately except heartburn and stress.

Re: Need help Up against Kyocera & Sharp
Some of you with hands-on experience with these models may have additional insights, but here is what I have: That MX-M654N’s competitive positioning is mixed, with strengths in the areas energy consumption, scan speed, connectivity, footprint, and UI size and design, and disadvantages in the areas of maximum speed, paper handling, finishing, and mobile print support. The TASKalfa 650is 1i due to be replaced pretty soon by a new 70ppm model, so you could probably expect competitive pricing...

Re: Canon devices and AS400 Systems
Hi Jason, AS/400 systems include a feature known as Host Print Transform. The feature is able to convert the proprietary IBM spool file formats to HP PCL 5 format. According to this web page http://www-01.ibm.com/support/...amp;context=SGCZG6L, the Canon 6265 is supported by the Host Print Transform feature when choosing the *HP4 Manufacturer Type and Model. This gives you a second option to investigate besides a third party IPDS conversion option. Best Regards, /Paul
