Re: Register for BTA's Aug. 20 Webinar Focused on Proactive Prospecting
Did anyone else catch this? I sat in for about and hour, although it was nothing really new, it did remind me of the basics. Actually there was something that I didn't even think of, when we're making phone calls, we are actually conducting "disruptive marketing", gee, never thought about it that way. I'll be posting the power point to the "clips" section of the our site either tonight or tomorrow. I did enjoy the presentation.

March 11 (Bloomberg) -- Companies including Sony Corp. and Toyota Motor Corp. halted output at plants after an 8.9- magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan, damaging production facilities and causing power outages. Sony halted and evacuated six factories in northeastern Japan, said Yasuhiro Okada, a spokesman at the Tokyo-based company. He said the company was assessing the...

Re: BTA East 2012 District Event
the turn out was fantastic! There were more than 30 vendors and no vendors that were addressing managing the print stream. I had the chance to sit next to Jim D from Muratec while we listened to Nori from Kyocera. At the end od the keynote speech, we were asked if we had any questions. Jim D from Muratec asked itf Kyocera was buying Sharp! It brought a great roar from the crowd and Nori only stated "that's the rumor" and he chuckled and said nothing more. The BTA events should be attended by...

this will put the whole industry on edge tomorrow and I wonder how sharp USA will spin this one. They did a good job on the other one, however this is now twice is 7 months. Like other P4P'ers have stated, it may not be up to Sharp execs only, the banks have a say in this. Can't wait to hear reactions tomorrow.

Re: C2500 Media Types
Art, It will do some but not on a regular basis. We had to replace a c4500 that was doing lots of thicker coated stocks with a Canon. I just sold a C811DN and I am certain the brochure on that product says "glossy". I also have the recomnended paper chart from Ricoh and will try to send tomorrow if I can find it.

Re: Need Input for Color Deal
From the outside looking in, this deal begs for a total solution proposal that takes into consideration more than just speeds and feeds but you can't do it justice by tomorrow afternoon. What is the nature of the content? Is content that is color static and the variable B&W? If so, they would be better served financially with pre-printed stock. Is the intent purely to generate an invoice or do they intend to use this output to promote products or services. If it is the latter, have you...

Re: 1060 and Twain driver
Thanks again for the help guys, but you're not going to believe what I found. The latest version of the driver is the problem. When my IT department does an install, they always download the "latest and greatest" versions of all software and drivers from the website. This time all I had to do to get this to work was to use an older version of the TWAIN driver (version 3.33). I tested this today while installing a 1060 on the network of another client that was already running NetNEUI and it...

Re: Ricoh Embedded Print Director 1 MFP License
Yes, it installs on each machine. You will need a Java card installed on each copier before you can install it. It is not that hard to install, although one issue we ran into was that the latest version of the software seemed to not install, we had to drop back one version, then it worked just fine. As far as how it works, from the customer perspective, they get to the copier and it asks them for a code and they enter it and then can use the copier as normal. One limitation of the User...

Re: Performance and Compensation Plans
It's tough out there but there is still a lot of money to be made. Just about every business needs a copier. In an interview, Reil Rackham said that in tough times the key to success is focus: put all of your resources into your best opportunities. Here are a list of things I've done to help maximize my sales as much as possible: 1. Make a committment to stick things out through the hard times. 2. Sell the relationship today, sell a copier tomorrow. 3. Start an email list. 4. Have my...

Re: The End Is Nigh
More for Czech I see what you do on LinkedIn, I see what you write, you my friend "is the value" that you bring to your clients! Like I stated before, selling copiers now seems to be more about identifying those clients that you can ands can't make GP. You need to make that assessment ASAP during discovery. There are many boxes I don't make money on (GP), however there are spiffs from the manufacturers and @ $200 bucks each for some color units, you can pocket another $1K in spiffs. Don't...

Re: HP should Buy Xerox
Appreciate the comments. However, your arguments regarding A4 vs. A3 pertain to what’s good for you. Industries which are going through disruption or when an industry’s particular product or its services become less valuable to those once dependent on them. The disease of Product-Centric thinking will infect those with a stubbornness to modify. It is not up to those who sell a product or service to determine its value. Its value is determined by those who buy the product or service.

Re: HP should Buy Xerox
There is little to no margin in A4. Folks who want those products are just going to buy on-line. Let them. Best bet is focus on areas where you can still make money. Let other people chase the race to the bottom stuff.

Re: ManagingThe Imaging Channel's Crisis
Anders, You read this the way you wanted. I am by far NOT predicting the end of the world. I am predicting the end of customers in the Imaging Channel being oversold based on outdated business processes. The technologies being exposed to organizations today will change their business processess and cause a speed up to the SMB's digitization. Regarding NEXERA they are the only organization in the world with data on service activity based on nearly 5 million devices. The article was written to...
