What Does It Mean To Sell From The Heart?

Larry Levine ·
Selling From the Heart goes against everything that standard sales training teaches you. The world has changed and yet, how we sell seems to be stuck in past decades. No longer are the old-school or hard-nosed tactics working, it’s time for a change. So how do you sell in this current environment? From the heart!!! You put the needs of your clients first. You place them up on a silver business platter. You intently listen to their every word, what they need and how you can best fill it. You...

Last week was a killer! Not that I sold anything, but I had a golf outing on Monday (did secure a meeting out of that), two full days of training in PA on Wednesday and Thursday. There's an interesting thread below about the Riso V8000 which was a dual color single pass duplicator. At the time I was selling the Ricoh products and all we had was the Ricoh TCII. Where Riso developed a single device that was able to print colors, Ricoh came out with an optional slave device. You could not print to the Ricoh TCII, in order to get two colors in a single pass, you had to make the masters on a single color Ricoh duplicator. Once the masters were made you then had to...

Four Glorious Reasons Why You Should Attend BTA National Conference in NYC

Art Post ·
Every year I try to attend at least one BTA event. This year I'll be attending my first ever BTA National Conference in New York City on September 19th through the 20th. I haven't decided if I'm going to take the SeaStreak ferry from Highlands or have a Uber buddy of mine drive me in on the 19th and pick me up on the 21st. I'm pretty lucky that I think I have the best view of the NYC skyline in all of New Jersey, others might disagree, but I've got one heck of a view. One of the events that...

Please excuse typo's or grammar. Anyway, I must have wrote this after the Ricoh purchase of Ikon and the title "MFP Wars". Rules of thumb...sell nothing but the need for an appointment on a phone call or initial call. Also never "sell" during your fact-finding for several reasons: 1.) The fact-finding process gets interrupted or stopped. 2.) You come across like a dog salivating over fresh meat. 3.) You tip your hand and lose some of the thunder you will get from your proposal. 4.) You inspire additional questions and thought processes that the prospect will then discuss with competitors. read the rest in the...

Just a little more on the show that I'd like to share from this week. While standing at the end of our booth I was watching the reps from other companies in our section. So many peeps passed their booth and they did not say a word! No greeting, no communication, they waited for someone to speak to them first. If An Old School Copier Rep Can Build His Brand, So Can You!

"A brand is no longer what we tell the customer it is - it is what customers tell each other it is" Scott Cook Should copier sales reps leverage the power of branding to differentiate themselves to rise above the noise? My answer, an absolute yes! Branding is powerful. When you think of brands, most turn to large brands such as Google, Amazon, Starbucks and McDonalds, just to name a few. Why is establishing a world-class business brand invaluable? Besides the distinct value it brings,...
