Re: Post-Virus We Must Defeat The Zombie Companies!
Although I am 60% on board with your move to A4 strategy, most of the rest of the stuff you are posting is "knocking it out of the park"! I would like to see a poll. As a business owner, during COVID-19 would you prefer? 1). No lease payments for 90 days 2). 1/2 price lease payments for one year The auto industry is pushing no payments for 90 days but I think business owners are more concerned about cash flow for the next year. I think the correct strategy is to offer as part of your...

Re: Target GP Margins
Across the board, I probably average 12-15% margin above whatever markup management puts in before my "Sales Cost" is published. For printers & desktop A4 devices, I just want to get a bunch of them in the field running pages & making money, so I sell most of them at my Sales Cost. That recurring revenue stream & volume in numbers is more valuable than making a few extra dollars on the hardware. On larger A4 MFPs, I'll typically have a 20-25% margin, because I typically propose...

tx I agree. Our owner, who happens to be my father, is still trying to do things like its the 80's. We hold our own in a major market but we do not have the growth I want. It is tough to get him on board with anything new age as this is an industry he has made truck loads of money on doing it the same old way year after year.

Re: Toshiba now has tier based CPC's?
Hi, we sell Toshiba in the UK. The current colour range can run with a two tiered counter already. We used to sell the Kyocera range with this feature it seemed to be good and won us business, but lost us money in service. When colour costs are dropping to 4p, the percentage of toner from the 4p is getting less. So to breaking this down into 3 tiers could seem marginal. But let say you could offer 1.5p for 2% coverage then 2.5p for 2-5% coverage and then 4p for above, you have now lost out...

Re: Samsung Copier Million Page Test "A Tree Massacre"
Seems my Blog about the million page test was not that well received with Samsung. They complained to ENX Magazine who then pulled the blog off their site. Whatever happened to FREE Press? They were not happy that I pointed out that they used "x" amount of tree's for a 1980's type test! Since Samsung spends money with ENX, ENX pulled the blogs and is not posting any of my latest stuff. So this effort is eliminate "carbon copied" work orders for service techs? What is wrong with the print "workflow" when the software application that generates a service form cannot be configured to print two of the same item? This is not an easy "printer-centric" fix. The application needs to either carry this information to the printer as part of the job or you must have some print-based software (Planet Press/Dataworks) telling the printer what to do. At this point, what other problems...

No they need to produce two part forms on carbonless paper. well I'm finding that out about the PlanetPress and Dataworks after the fact. The last thing I needed to so was go back and charge more. Chuck - my post (above) about "17 C900 units placed" was just a joke. If you count the Press Releases from Ricoh every time a C900 is sold, they would actually have about four or five C900 units in the field. I'll try to get facts.

I mean a fuser is a fuser no matter who makes it I thought, but maybe a certain brand fuser has some kind of advantage? And taking it further, why? With this transition complete & the amount of IBM intelligence they have on board, wouldn't it make complete sense for Ricoh to acquire Lexmark, a former subsidiary of IBM? Re: MFP Losing IP address
Is it a static IP address or Dynamic? If it is a static IP, I do not see any way that rebooting the server or workstation could affect the IP programmed in the machine. Even if there's a conflict, the machine would still have the IP. Also, if it's static, there is nothing the switch/model/router could have to do with the IP address. If it's dynamic, then the device providing the IP could have an issue. In this case, I can't say if that's the server/modem/router. Honestly, the most likely...

Yes, I meant cartridges for non-BSD models. You are also correct regarding the XS models compared to the X. They are completely identical in every sense, aside from the fact that the BSD models are only available in the base configuration. For example, the Lexmark X464de is the same as the X463de with a fax board added. To sell the BSD version (XS463de) with a fax, you would have to add the fax versus ordering a pre-configured model.

Old Budget is $101,500. New "total cost" for "lease-purchase of copiers and service" is $92,000. Cost per page is $0.04. Volume is 7 million per year. 7 million x $0.04 = $280,000 per year just for the clicks. I'm going to guess this is simply a case of bad reporting and not a case of the school board being unable to add.
