John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

Re: When is Net New Business not Net New Business?
I was wondering if the subject of those customers who were acquired through service was going to come up, & Jason's comment is certainly "food for thought"... In his example, he brought on the service customer (with the obvious intention of upgrading them at the first opportunity) & the dealer gets a contract & machine sale that they otherwise wouldn't have. Sounds like net new to me. In my experience, though, most of these service to machine sale conversions are from customers...

Thanks, sounds great! The question I have has to do with printing to an irc3080i with UFRII printing from a Corel Word program. I can change color settings in the driver (it is defaulted to bw) but no color at all on output. A Corel program wouldnt require PCL or PS would it? I cant imagine it would....please help if you can.

Re: Ricoh Production Printing
Not sure my post mentions the word "change" anywhere. I do think it is interesting that they have not yet dismantled the Production Print Business Group (PPBG), as IKON (formerly known as Ricoh) tries to reduce costs.

The word is out now, it's all over twitter and I believe we'll all now have to answer these questions about security and what happends at the end of the term of a lease. Re: Dealer Management Software
I have been an independent consultant for the office technolgy industry since 1994 and in the industry since 1981. My primary focus has been on the OMD software system. eAutomate is a competitor of OMD which has been around for over 20 years. My experience with eAutomate is very limited (mainly word of mouth from industry collegues) but I have been told that the service contract invoicing (the profit bread and butter of the industry) and financial modules are not as flexible or capable as...

Re: New Sharp Smart Phone MFP User Interface
Yah but unfortunately its a...SHARP! Let them "hammer out" all the issues it will have, then everyone else will follow. Word from the Sharp DSM in Oregon is the screen locked up a lot during their two demo's and also had some glitches in scanning functions. BUT someone has to start the new trend and I'm sure by firmware version 30.1 it will be incredible! Nothing against you personally montecore

Re: Google Cloud Print Opens Access to Printers Across the Globe
I tested it yesterday on an old Ricoh 3245c. It worked well on a PDF brochure aside from the fact that it didn't apply duplexing. On a Lease Agreement out of Word, it was a total debacle, not even close to being correct. I believe it split into 8 pages.

Re: Pietrunti Gig
Word on 'The Street' says that Global Imaging Systems, owned by XEROX, has hired Mike Pietrunti. Mike knew to abandon ship at Kyocera MITA and has landed at a very sound company, with Global. He will be far better off than landing at Ricoh and helping them transition to a strictly Direct operation, or helping SHARP manage their MFP business into extinction. Both Global and Mike Pietrunti made a good move.

Re: Cloud Poll
Canon's Cloud Portal - MEAP App allows you to connect a Canon ImageRUNNER-Advance to either GoogleDocs or MS Sharepoint Online. The MEAP App is free from Canon, and GoogleDocs will give you a free 1Gig of storage when you open a gmail account. The last time I checked a Terabyte of storage was ~ $250/year, which is pretty darn cheap. This allows you to Scan directly to GoogleDocs and Print Directly from GoogleDocs. You can even print MS Word, Excel, & Powerpoint docs that are stored on...

Re: Oce:CBS::Ikon:RBS Simple Math
In my area Canon Business Solutions is known as the biggest snakes in the industry. You can only 3-5 so many customers and leave them upside-down for so long before word spreads in the local community that you are a bunch of crooked used car salesmen. I'm sure my area isn't the only one where they have earned this reputation. As for Oce' I can't think of a more backwards company. Good luck to them all.

Re: Use of LinkedIn as a sales tool
Jon: Nice, very nice, I would tend to think that if it increases your business that it would be ok, however there will be those owners that will object because you are branding yourself and if you leave maybe so do your accounts. However in some cases I believe that if your company is not providing the marketing tools, leads, etc, then you need to do whatever can increase your sales. Nice job, did you use word press for this? Re: SP431DN will it..
So, I we installed the SP431DN with four paper trays the other day. I was there on Friday to set up the paper trays, configure the printer setting and test the system. We did a run of 2,500 envelopes with an MS word merge for addressing. We finished the job in 75 minutes with no wrinkles, we did have several misfeeds, however I'm blaming that on me not knowing how many envelopes to put in each tray. We not able to fit and entire box pf 500 however we were able to fit about 250-300 at a time.

Re: Windows 8 Compatability
FYI. To be technical, Windows 8 introduces SMB V3, improving security features among other things. http://www.windowsecurity.com/...SMB-Connections.html Although supposedly backwards compatible with SMB V1 & V2 found on most current MFPs, the transition is not quite as seamless as Microsoft hoped for. SMB V3 will likely require firmware updates from all of the copier manufacturers to be compatible. I have no idea on the Universal Print drivers until you try them. It is only a short time...

Re: Image Quality Not a Main Criteria in MFP Purchase
Vince has some excellent points but I remember when selling Word Processing Systems that the highest quality available was a Diablo 630 with a Steel Printwheel and Carbon Ribbon, then came laser printers and then the highest acceptable quality became a laser copy. The bar was greatly LOWERED to accept laser quality (nothing more than a copy). Perhaps what we're seeing is the lowering of expectations as to what is acceptable (production printing notwithstanding). Scanning speeds vs output...

Re: 3850 & Camera Ready Art
From: JasonR Sent: 10/11/2002 7:32 AM Remember that even Ricoh is saying that the 3850 is BUSINESS color, as such there is no way this machine can be used for "real" proofing. A lot of people throw around the word proofing when they mean "prints we can do before we show this to the customer" or "prints shown to the customer with an understanding this isn't a "press proof". I'm glad to hear the 3850 output looks good, and for "camera ready art" while it isn't the machine I would pick, I'm...

From: Ted Sent: 9/19/2002 7:24 AM I had a Church a few years ago that used WP. They were only experiencing problems with the 551 & WP. They haven't had a problem since they switched.

Re: Printing from Word Perfect
From: Graham Sent: 9/19/2002 8:45 AM You'll notice with that method that when they are printing multiple copies, if you watch the printer spool, WP will send the entire document for each copy. IE: if you have a 3 page document that you are printing 50 times, it will send 150 pages to the printer. Printing out of word, it sends 3 pages to the printer and doesn't tie up your PC or hurt your network traffic.

From: Graham Sent: 9/20/2002 8:28 AM This is true, however, there is also (in WP10) a coalate check box in the print properties within the WP program that needs to be unchecked and a profile setting that needs to be changed to get it to do it right. (This is about 3 menu levels deep in WP.) I finally found it by hunting around in the print option menus within WP. It does not always save the settings. I convinced the customer to change to MS word which he has and bought him a Word for Dummies...
