Jake, First the positives. The apps are the differentiator hopefully they will keep rolling these out and updating the ones they have. The lines they are putting out are strong and reliable. Support from our local Kyocera reps is great both presales and and service support. On the other hand our techs do get somewhat frustrated with the help line. I've been with a Kyocera dealer for 8 years now and we just picked up Xerox as a second line. One of the weaknesses we saw with Kyocera is lack of...

Been ages since I posted anything on here! Jason, back in the day for me Canon didn't do anything unless it was minimum $50k wholesale. KM on the other hand was extremely aggressive with doing whatever was needed to get our wholesale price down. We also had a fantastic dealer account manager though who would go to bat for us every time. In a RFP situation, you would think they would understand that you are dropping your margins or more than you expect the manufacturer to. "Where there's a...

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

May I put in a plug for my personal cause? As a volunteer at our county's animal shelter, I see first hand the good work this shelter does(as well as all the others around the country). There are so many wonderful, wonderful pets languishing in kennels that are simply awaiting a chance to have a home of their own with a loving family. People can be so incredibly cruel to animals. I would be most concerned about brands that do not use proprietary compression systems but use variations of Windows. The brands that the show used are probably the most vulnerable. I agree with JasonR, removing the HDD and overwriting it would be a reasonable solution, or simply charge the customer a fee equal to the price of a new HDD or about $100 and hand the old HDD over to the customer before the machine is picked up seems reasonable to me.

The three-day test session took place on Thursday, Sunday and today, with the first two days of testing coinciding with the first and last day of World Ducati Week, allowing the huge crowds of Ducatisti to witness an official testing session first hand. Noriyuki and Michel were on track on their factory 1198 bikes while Troy Bayliss, testing for the second time this season,...

OK - this is starting to smell like corporate finger pointing. If Ratio.de is closed, who is operating the US office (financially)? And who is providing plotbase PM? (Still available) There seems to be a cloud of secrecy around this mess. It's as if Ricoh's not satisfied with pricing themselves out of wide format. Now they have to prove what corporate moron clowns they are by playing 3 card monty with a key component. BTW, Graphic Enterprises says they can still order the plotbase controller...

Thanks Art. After re-reading my post, I'd like to clarify: my frustration is with Ricoh corporate, and the glib post about Ratio closing. The "Left hand ,Right hand" remark was not aimed at any individuals, but at the organizational structure of the company that is so filled with bureaucracy nobody knows what's true ("can't find it with both hands").

Re: MPS And Profit

txeagle24 ·
There are a number of factors that impact start-up cost for MPS clients. In the traditional "copier" world, prior to putting machines under contract we would inspect them, perform service to bring it up to spec and bill the client. In MPS, we just put them under contract, so the start up cost can be virtually nothing or cost an arm and a leg depending on the condition of the machines that are being placed under an MPS Agreement. Another factor is how much toner the client has on hand prior...

On the Lexmark XS658dfe you referenced, it cannot be ordered without a finisher. There is a 2nd pre-configured model (XS658dme) that delivers with a 4-bin mailbox, but I doubt many of those are sold. On the other hand, Ricoh's new SP5200 and their MP C300/C400 series have one version sold without a finisher (cannot be added later) and one that is pre-configured with a finisher. Of the Ricoh A4 units I have sold, I would say the majority of them have been the model with the finisher with the...

copierdirect.ca just got me my first lead after being up for less than 3 months. In my opinion, email blasting is not effective unless the customer chooses to opt-in. Fax blasting on the other hand is much more effective. I use a PC Fax driver to organize businesses by vertical. Then I send out a mass fax with relevant information. Emails are easily deleted, but faxes have to be read before they are thrown out. I wouldn't buy a house or a car from a random guy who sent me an email. Better to...

I agree with the conspiracy theory moreso than the Democrat/Republican theory, because BIG OIL knows that if they can throw enough $$ into the game, then they can do whatever they want, and they will. BIG OIL does not want to build any new refineries here in the US because they would not be able to control their profits the way they are now. Everyone has their hand in each gallon of gas that is bought. State taxes, Federal taxes, Local taxes, Exise taxes, everyone gets a piece of the pie.

Rules of thumb...sell nothing but the need for an appointment on a phone call or initial call. Also never "sell" during your fact-finding for several reasons: 1.) The fact-finding process gets interrupted or stopped. 2.) You come across like a dog salivating over fresh meat. 3.) You tip your hand and lose some of the thunder you will get from your proposal. 4.) You inspire additional questions and thought processes that the prospect will then discuss with competitors. 5.)
