Good god. what a piece of work (Putting it nicely). Talk about screwing over your employees. At what point did this seem like a good idea for a company of Pats size. I know everyone is hurting but the 100 mil dealer is not hurting like the 5-10 mil dealer right now in my opinion. Glad he bowed to the pressure but that should have never been considered.

Re: Toshiba Introduces World's First Copier Delivering Erasable and Black & White Prints
Imagine a CMYK copier, except remove the CMY toner and developer and insert a new Erasable Blue (EB) toner and developer. Modify the copier so that when the Erasable blue toner passes back through the heat of the fuser, it de-colorizes the blue to white. A new rules based print driver can automatically makes software apps like emails auto print in blue plus provide a new counter to show how much paper, CO2 and money you saved. The previous generation product appealed to too small a section...

Re: Competing against A4 sharps
Being the incumbent you have a much better understanding of the work flows. If you look at what they are currently doing 60K per month per device PRINTING is high volume, obviously they have some specialist jobs they are producing? Making a few presumptions here but I would have thought you could change the goal posts and go back and say we will give you two high volume printers and an MFP. This way users can access the MFP unencumbered by the large print jobs. But essentially what I'm...

Re: Managed Print Services Fuels Growth of Service Point USA
Service Point USA closed their doors! Out of Business. I was informed by one of my customers who used Service Point that they had closed their doors. Then spoke to a friend who use to work for them as a wide format sales specialist. He said they brought is a top Executive that was suppose to "save" the company. He started cutting positions, and kept cutting, and cutting. While I understand you must control costs, you can't cut your way to growth (I think he proved that). You must bring in...

Re: 1060 v Minolta Di551/Konica 7155 need help!
The silver bullet me be the new gWare Software that Ricoh is about to launch. gWare in conjuction with PCSM not only allows the law firm to track all prints but allows copies also to be tracked by a central print server and apply a cost factor to the copies/prints for billing purposes. You can even set it up to automatically email the data at a prescribed time. With this embedded software, they will no longer have to go to each copier and retrieve client code data and combine it with print...

Re: 2090 Doc Server Application
I'm thinking but haven't reached any conclusions yet. I thought through the assigning of a particular drawer "simplex only" responsibility but couldn't come up with a way to assign simplex sections to that drawer except in print settings. I also thought through pre-printing tabs and inserting as job separator pages via the Interposer but that didn't get us there either because these files would be treated as a single file. I decided to forward your question to Jeff Weinstein who is the...

Re: B2C defined
Allow me to comment on this for a moment. Ricoh B2C is a strategy, not a product. The conecpt of B2C came about as an effort to transform B&W customers into color. The B2C strategy was to offer a system that was equivalent to B&W systems in every feature and function, with comparable B&W CPC. Most importantly, systems like this did not need a color specialist to sell as typical customers were just looking to make sure reference colors were in place (ie red apples, blue sky, and...

Re: RBS Continues to Dump Machines & Make Dealers Look Bad!
I work for RBS as wide format specialist, I hit my numbers selling wide format, and that quote is impossible. It's below cost, not including networking, delivery, toner, etc. No need to fire this guy, he can't make a living selling like this anyway. Some offices (and dealers) don't have anyone that understands wide format, and will try to sell them at a cut price to keep a good customer and keep someone that knows wide format out of the account. I've picked up nice business selling B2C and...

Re: Jive Expands Into Japan, Announces Local Reseller Partnerships With TIS and Ricoh IT Solutions
for me this is very interesting, JIVE is a web based platform. I believe Classmates.com uses the Jive platform. When I was considering new platforms fo the p4p a few years ago I reached out to Jive. Jive is pretty much for the big boys. It seems Ricoh will partner with Jive for selling overall MDS solutions to it's customers. You can scan to Mailboxes (like Ricoh's document server, but better) and an Advanced Box as well (similar to dropbox). Anything else requires additional software.

Re: Canon U.S.A.'s imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4200 Series Brings Next Generation Platform to Midrange Black-and-White MFP Segment
From the Ricoh's I've played around with, you can see all of the file names in the document server, but require authentication to print/send the file. Canon's units can have up to 100 mailboxes that can be individually named. Files are then securely stored inside each mailbox so that non-authenticated users cannot see what's inside someone else's mailbox.

Re: Copier Scams Part Deux "Dude Where's my Copier"?
I'm not sure if that has an equivalent in the UK. here we have the Consumer Credit Act. However, it only applies to consumers. Business to business isn't covered (except in a small number of cases). "I've almost never seen a disputed copier lease where the lessee wins. I'll admit I'm no expert in leasing however most of these agreements are rock solid." In my experience the reason why they're perceived as rock solid is because they are rarely challenged. If they're not challenged they'll...

Re: Smart Scanning with Scan2Cloud Apps
Hey Art, Good post. I didn't know too much about DocuShare so I'm glad I could read about it. I think Canon products deserve a mention. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE line allows you to directly scan to/print from Google Docs and Microsoft Exchange. This is a free feature. Larger imageRUNNER ADVANCE units allow you to scan directly into Microsoft Word and Powerpoint (again free), and if you add the Universal Send Advance/Security Feature Set you can create PDFs with OCR, annotations and...

Re: Smart Scanning with Scan2Cloud Apps
Ricoh will have their ICE version soon, will try to write more on that. I've found over time that most apps from the manufacturers are so so at best and developing a direct relationship with companies like UDOCX and Print Audit is more beneficial to the end user and to the dealer that is selling the solution. Thanx for the comment!!!

Let's not lose track of Jason's statement that most salesreps do not consult and customer's don't know who they are going to get from a dealership. We are all in agreement (including Jason) that the consultative approach is best but we are a minority in our business. Most reps do not, can not and will not do what it takes to be a specialist worthy of extra compensation.
