Re: Things getting weird for Xerox Dealers
Very strange. I interact with the CRG on a regular basis and have had no indication of reduced staff, etc. I can’t comment on your issue with parts as we do not rely on xerox to send our parts, we stock and replenish out of our own warehouse. No substantial difference between xerox parts on b/o than Canon or HP. Not nearly as bad as Ricoh. We dropped the ricoh product years ago as we couldn’t handle the constant toner b/o issues. Parts I can somewhat understand, but toner? Hope that your...

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. Re: Xerox explores sale of leasing finance unit: sources
Oce did that 10 years ago and went bust. They didn't realise how much they relied on the monthly rental income and how inflexible third party leasing companies are when you want to upgrade mid term. The financing arm is usually the most profitable side of the business. High interest rate to customers, low rates for them and if the customer goes bust you generally get you equipment back and at the end of the contract you get your gear back.

Re: GR firm wins Muskegon school district's copier bid
Hey, same is true with KMBS direct, bottom line is dealers that have direct branches in their immediate geography will find it hard to secure any of the large bids or contracts. Direct Branches whether Ricoh, IKON, KonicMinolta, Sharp, Global, CBS or Global will continue to buy the clicks.

I havn't seen one placement of the frontier in my territory yet. But that doesn't mean they aren't out there. I see the whole copier industry making a shift to A$ devices in the next 24 months or less, they have too. Price is the driving factor, I've heard it all about A4's, such as "A4's can't hold up to heavy volume", oh yea then why do I see laser printers with hundreds of thousands of prints on them and they weigh under 100lbs? I tend to agree with the notion that Imagistics won't change much on the short term. They will have Canon added to their mix but the Oce's will still be there. This acquisition isn't like buying a Global or an IKON. Canon acquired a manufacturer with it's own manufacturing and R&D. Over time the lines will be blurred but not for several years.

I'm looking at a break point of around 10k/month, at that point, at least at my dealership, a3 is a lower tco. They [the samsung rep]say when you look at total volumes, 11x17 only accounts for like 3% of the global print volume. What I've seen is that its not accurate to extrapolate that only 3% of customers need it, it means that there is a wider group of customers that use it outside AEC, but they do a tiny amount of it. Even so, once you've got a feature that is used, even marginally,...

Re: A4 Page Volumes
The most important question to ask is "how much do you copy 11x17"? If the answer is none, then the next question is "how often do you print 11x17"? When the answer is quite often, well A3 is then a no brainer, however if the answer is rarely, then I'll bundle an 11x17 laser or ink printer. Based on under 10K per month, A4 will save the customer on the TCO over the term of a 5 year lease.

By using the dealers to focus on the SMB market, the costs to support that channel are much less. I can see...
