Re: Need HELP! Kyocera Color A3 question
Top three points I make when against Kyocera. #1. Take them color samples from your device and any Kyocera because the color output is sub par on all units. If you don’t have access to one look in your crm for an account you co-exist with Kyocera in. Or the next time you have a knock out make some samples and keep them in a binder. If color quality is important to the customer it will be a win. Another point is showing them you get what you pay for, meaning 3 tier color is what they have...

Copystar/Kyocera 7052ci and 8052ci are still current models as the 7353ci and 8353ci were just released. same goes the the 70/80ppm mono's. not sure when they will get discontinued but we can still order them as of today.

Re: 11 x 17 Printer
It has to be laser and heavy duty like that Ricoh you’re talking about. Brother has inkjet and Sharp has small stuff. They are expanding the department so volumes will go up. So it has to be heavy duty

Thanks. Interesting. I wonder what the advantages and disadvantages of those ink jets are (compared to laser MFP).

Re: Five Reasons Why I'm Stoked About the New Ricoh SP8400DN Printer
Client Pro's: Lower purchase or lease price for hardware Faster print speed than laser based vs same segment ink vs laser Unlimited pages No overage billing No unpredicted costs with overages Less downtime than laser Client Cons: Quality of prints or copies may not be equal to laser (does not matter if prints or copies stay in house) Print Head cost Ink cost may be higher than color laser, however that may be off-set by the lower purchase price Anyone care to add?

Looking for feedback on this. Has anyone sold these are had a chance to put hands on it and get an opinion. What type of service rates would you charge for toner inclusive service agreement on this?

Re: Kyocera finally put's out a low volume A4 Color
Yes I have sold a couple of these. For the price these are fantastic. My service manager is impressed which is hard to do. Dual side scanning is a definite selling point. The cost per page is going to be higher of course. I would say in the .015 black and white and .11 color to be safe (depending on your market of course). Not as good as say the 6535 per say but the machine is less than half the cost. If the run more than a couple thousand a month I would move them up to the 6535cidn. Let me...

Re: RiSO ComColor FW5230
That Riso is a relatively new model. Its expensive.....real expensive. Image quality and walk up functionality is not up to par with a laser MFP. Without digging up pricing I'm going to say $23K

Re: Color MFP Trends, Tactics, etc
I havn't seen one placement of the frontier in my territory yet. But that doesn't mean they aren't out there. I see the whole copier industry making a shift to A$ devices in the next 24 months or less, they have too. Price is the driving factor, I've heard it all about A4's, such as "A4's can't hold up to heavy volume", oh yea then why do I see laser printers with hundreds of thousands of prints on them and they weigh under 100lbs? Heck, I just came from an account that has 180K on a Ricoh...

Re: A4s and Single Function Laser in MPS
no 3-5 is not back in MPS. Toner out is a way of describing the sales model for standard laser printers, where the aftermarket revenue is generated by the sales of toner and other supplies versus charging a set CPC for all supplies and service.

Re: A4s and Single Function Laser in MPS
Thanks - point taken. Any other thoughts on the MPS breakdown for satellite single function laser or A4 MFPs? or Color vs. BW? Interesting that customers still don't make the most of their service agreements. Guess that is where device monitoring comes in.

Re: MPC 7500 Coated Paper Settings
This leads me to ask if there is any brand out there that is really good with printing onto glossy paper? I mean a fuser is a fuser no matter who makes it I thought, but maybe a certain brand fuser has some kind of advantage? And taking it further, why? Is there a different substance being used in the materials, ie: pressure or hot roller or maybe the toner adheres to the paper better with some brands, and if so what is in the toner that does that? I can see a printing press being able to...

Re: A4 Page Volumes
The most important question to ask is "how much do you copy 11x17"? If the answer is none, then the next question is "how often do you print 11x17"? When the answer is quite often, well A3 is then a no brainer, however if the answer is rarely, then I'll bundle an 11x17 laser or ink printer. Based on under 10K per month, A4 will save the customer on the TCO over the term of a 5 year lease.

Re: Memjet Color Printers to the Rescue?
It almost jams when printing a full black page. Back to the drawing board. No, seriously, we have seen this before and I think that it could be the future. But: Does the print fade? Is it waterresistant? Are the colors as vibrant as with laser?

Re: Memjet Color Printers to the Rescue?
I see these types of products making a serious impact on our business. From what I see from the video, I can't remember ever seeing a color laser that would be able to output documents that fast, especially with the envelope output. It's the tip of the iceberg with probably faster products to come down the road. Potential Users: Churches Colleges CRD's Print Shops Anyone else care to add to the list of potential markets?

Tsunami To Crimp Toner Supplies? Posted by Lamont Wood Mar 28, 2011 06:30 PM In the short term, yes, but in the long term things will probably sort themselves out, predicts economist's blog. Amidst all the other bad news out of Japan after the recent earthquake and tsunami, now it appears that toner may get scarce, at least for a while. \t A Forbes blog notes that Barclays Capital is predicting that Canon and Fujitsu Xerox may soon face shortages of toner material due to the disaster.

Re: JOINT STATEMENT BY SHARP ELECTRONICS CORPORATION AND EDWARD MCLAUGHLIN
I dunno, I can see much room for Sharp anymore. Growth areas are Print Production, very low end and MPS. Right now I don't see them as a player in any of these markets. They don't have wide format, duplicators (not that these have been big sellers lately), scanners. I was just on the sharp web site and what do they have three models of laser printers, maybe four tops! The claim to fame is A4 right now and the slick GUI. The industry is changing once again, thus we could see additional...

Re: JOINT STATEMENT BY SHARP ELECTRONICS CORPORATION AND EDWARD MCLAUGHLIN
Very good points Art. The only print production (as some would call it) would be 85, 95, 110ppm. But these are more large departmental units. Mostly it is the 85ppm that is being pushed. There are only a few major players when you get higher than that. The very low end has always been a issue for them. The only item would be the AR-208 unit but that little Ricoh desktop will blow that away. Then there is the issue that some of these low end units can only be purchased from a distributor that...

Re: Printing Envelopes Reliably on MPC300
I think Old Glory means A4. Remember, 4 is less than 3 (it's a metric thing). You should be able to create an "envelope printer" by installing a second instance of the printer with the same IP address. In the PCL 6 driver (not universal), you can go into the printer properties, print preferences, detailed settings and rotate the image 180 degrees. When you say the printer "red lights", what is the error? Is it a paper type mismatch? If so, what is it calling for? How may envelopes are they...

Re: What's the best way to close on price increase?
Here is the text from the email we got: Dear Dealer Principal Effective January 1, 2012, Ricoh will implement a price increase. Ricoh, Savin and Lanier equipment and accessories will reflect a 5% increase from the current dealer pricing and SRP prices, excluding A4 laser printers and Gel printers which will have no change. All supplies and parts will reflect a 3% increase without exception. This increase is due to the ongoing appreciation of the Japanese Yen. We have been faced with cost...

Re: Why is single clicking an 11×17 on a “copier” legal?
I thought before the age of the "cost per page" agreements that all systems double clicked for 11x17. I had heard many years ago a that Canon was the first to introduce a system that single clicked for 11x17 and had also heard that the single click was not the intent and it was a mistake. Anyone else hear that? Also with testing on some of my 11x17 laser printers, they all single click for 11x17.

Re: Canon shaking up the great white north
Canada is a simple environment for competition Ricoh (Ikon is long gone) Xerox Canon Even Canon is a very distant 3rd in this market Ricoh has dominated for years but they have been loosing some ground to Xerox in recent months. With Xerox Buying Laser Networks they are getting a jump on managing existing devices where Ricoh has been concentrating on flipping entire environments to Ricoh 2012 should be a challenging year for anyone in Canada.

So is this built on the Gels technology that Ricoh tried to introduce as a step between inkjet and laser colour in the MFP market and for 'business" desktop printers? My experience with them was they were a real flop.
