Re: PostScript Vs Fiery
I agree, processing on the machine has advanced to the point that getting a Fiery is not a necessity. You may still encounter times that it is. If you need Pantone, you must have a Fiery. If you want to expertly adjust colors, you must have a Fiery. If you want to swap back and forth between "Pleasing Color"(when it doesn't matter what red it is, as long and it looks red) and "Accurate Color" (when it doesn't matter if it looks good to you because it's not their logo's red), you need a...

Re: Ricoh Ends Relationship with Ratio
OK - this is starting to smell like corporate finger pointing. If Ratio.de is closed, who is operating the US office (financially)? And who is providing plotbase PM? (Still available) There seems to be a cloud of secrecy around this mess. It's as if Ricoh's not satisfied with pricing themselves out of wide format. Now they have to prove what corporate moron clowns they are by playing 3 card monty with a key component. BTW, Graphic Enterprises says they can still order the plotbase controller...

However 9 times our of 10 those features although are very cool will never be used. These units are a tough sell compared to the previous MX color series. Re: 3850 & Camera Ready Art
From: JasonR Sent: 10/11/2002 7:32 AM Remember that even Ricoh is saying that the 3850 is BUSINESS color, as such there is no way this machine can be used for "real" proofing. A lot of people throw around the word proofing when they mean "prints we can do before we show this to the customer" or "prints shown to the customer with an understanding this isn't a "press proof". I'm glad to hear the 3850 output looks good, and for "camera ready art" while it isn't the machine I would pick, I'm...

WEEKEND MFP INDUSTRY NOTES 8-5-07 The following is a quick review of copier/MFP industry news from industry publications. - The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it is legal for manufacturers to create a mandatory minimum selling price for their product. The case was decided regarding a store that sold women’s clothing, that ran afoul of the clothing manufacturer’s rules. Unknown if any copier manufacturers will adopt this policy. - A group in Australia at Queensland University, is claiming that...

Re: B2C defined
Correct. B2C means "Black to Color." This term was created about 5 years ago to designate the "next big thing" in the industry, which was the move from black & white output to color output in the office. Sort of along the lines of "A-to-D" for the Analog to Digital transition. I think the results of the last few years are proof that this revolution has happened (and is still happening). And to re-iterate what Eddie 2 Times said, Ricoh color MFPs can be used in a B2C environment...

Need more info in my opinion. Are you competing against the C40 or the 3535? Are the color applications graphic arts or business quality? How is the color being done currently? How important is speed? Do they need to print on thick or coated stock? Will it be a copier only or copy/print solution? Do they want color scanning? Is there much potential for mixed color and B&W originals within a single file? We have so many very different solutions now so the fact finding is much more...

Re: Adobe PostScript vs. Emulation
All you have to do is look at the competitive analysis (See Attached) between the Ricoh C4503 and C6502 against the competitors from Canon, Xerox, and KM to see how much of a difference True Adobe PostScript makes in the printing speed. Emulation machines are noticeably slower, to the point that you could argue that a lesser Ricoh needs to be proposed in order to compare accurately.

Re: MP C3003 Color Quality
Thanks Fisher. Actually, this was an application setting. In Adobe X Pro the customer had a Color Profile that was set to something other than Savin MPC3003/C3503. After correcting this, the prints were much better. It's challenging dealing with the nuances of Mac and desktop publishing/graphic arts programs when you don't work in them every day. It's frustrating but customers expect us to be the printing experts and many times aren't familiar with their print settings. They just want it to...

Re: How to Make Your Documents Great Again!
I'm really bummed that no one can find the time to chime in. I'll start it off with something Adrian gave me via email. Eye-catching graphic. Dan Kennedy is using the “Top Secret” graphic to catch his prospect’s attention. My personal favourite is to use an envelope printed with my company logo in colour. This gives some branding art to my envelope to differentiate it from other pieces of mail they might have.
