Re: Top Ten MFP Copier Industry Predictions for 2015
I really like number 4, and I believe #7 is going to happen sooner than we expected. I hold out hope as well.

Not liking the Kyocera part of #4 at all. On the other hand really liking # 10 Add: Color equipment will become more prevalent with costs of color equipment continuing to drop and coming more in line with monochrome.

Re: Lost two deals in one day
Art, Write your main contact(s) a nice email saying that you are sorry you lost their business, and if there is anything you can ever do to help them please don't hesitate to call or email you. Then check in six months and see how their service after the sale is. If their service is poor maybe your company can steal back the service. That does not help you immediately but the next time you put in a proposal you will NOT have to be the cheapest. Because they will have seen what cheap service...

Along the line of Vince's thinking, recommend that they sign a separate service agreement from the lease & that they ask for a clause that allows them to terminate the Service Agreement if satisfactory service levels are not delivered. This gives you a better shot of being able to get the service back if they are unhappy.

Re: Xerox, HP, Fuji Film, Fuji Xerox "It Just Keeps Getting Curiouser & Curiouser"
Fuji might be the modern version of Konica’s Ikon CPP500 & Danka. What’s old could be new again. But don’t worry, according to all the naysayers, the industry has been dead since copy machines were taught how to print, scan and fax. Yes that right, I said copy machines, not MFP,MFD, XDF or whatever kids are calling them these days. You wanna make $200k per year selling gear, come and move to Wisconsin and we’ll so you the path to what could be...

Re: Xerox, HP, Fuji Film, Fuji Xerox "It Just Keeps Getting Curiouser & Curiouser"
Xerox floats the idea of buying HP on the same day that the Fuji Xerox/ Xerox tussle seems to be resolved. Does that sound like a coincidence? I think Art hit the nail on the head when he said "In addition they would not have to purchase MFP's from Fuji Film in the future." I think this is Xerox's way of letting Fuji Xerox know that they do not hold all of the cards.

@SalesServiceGuy yeah that did seem kind of odd, however the Miami Herald did report that HP received a proposal from Xerox late yesterday. Ty for the comment

@dimaxusa I agree what comes around goes around, will be interesting to see how things pan out. I'm having one of my best years in the business, however the last two months have been terrible. But I'm not ready to give it up, many more good years are still ahead of us

Re: Xerox, HP, Fuji Film, Fuji Xerox "It Just Keeps Getting Curiouser & Curiouser"
HP's head office is in Palo Alto, California. How could the Miami Herald in Florida, not known as a beacon of copier information and clear across the country, have this kind of information? Did someone at Xerox (?) deliberately leak confidential information to publicize a rumor?

Lost two deals in one day
Both deals were more than 20K, less than 25K. One was net new, other was incumbent. Have special for net new and could not compete with cpc for .049, no minimum, 5 year guarantee for color at .049. MP C8002 Other deal was incumbent (kinda),...

Recent Marco Aquisition in New Jersey
In December 2019 Marco purchased Image Systems for business in Somerset, NJ. Many of us were surprised since the annual revenue was about 5 million (manta). Kind of small for a Marco purchase. In NJ there are Mega Dealers, and then the rest is well in the Image Systems size. Word on the street is that they will look to acquire 3-5 dealers in that 5 million range and then consolidate for one location. Again something I heard not gospel but it does make sense for the NJ market place

Xerox, HP, Fuji Film, Fuji Xerox "It Just Keeps Getting Curiouser & Curiouser"
Just want I needed today was some blockbuster news about Xerox, Fuji Film, Fugi Xerox and HP. Don't these people know I have a quota to reach by the end of the year! If you've been hiding all day and not staying in touch with industry events, today was one of those days that has everyone talking. Early this AM a press release comes out that states Xerox and Fuji Film has reached a settlement in their law suit. That's the one where Fuji Film sued Xerox because Xerox backed out of the sale.

The single name approach has haphazardly done been before - remember I Know One Name, aka IKON the messiah that everyone would think about with when office technology needs and hardware solutions needed to be addressed. In retrospect, IKON never got very high off the ground.

When will the evergreen clause end
When will the evergreen clause end for office equipment lease? Just found another one from a Mega dealer in the tri-state area with a 12 month renewal clause.... Shouldn't those companies be ashamed of themselves? Do they not embrace #customersatisfaction or #clientsatisfaction ? Or is it all about trapping the client if they forget to exercise their end of lease options? I understand that evergreen offers protection for the lessor, but at what cost? If the client is looking to move away...

Reflecting on 2022
As 2022 draws down. I hope all of my friends and vendors had a prosperous year. All of 2020, 2021 and 2022 presented significant challenges for me and our office technology industry. Years ago I would I would have labeled us a the copier industry, but with all of the changes I believe office technology better suits us as a whole. Heart Aches Still Persist One of my largest challenges for me and maybe our industry was the ability to meet net new objectives in 2022. In fact I failed for the...

The new eruption of COVID in China is going to make a fragile supply chain much worse over the next couple of months. The OEMs manufacturing A3/A4 product in China are finding it difficult to get components from their suppliers. At least the ocean shipping of containers and ground delivery has improved once the inventory arrives.
