It Won't Work! Is the motto of the unimaginative, and the Cry of the Insecure

Ray Stasiezcko ·
The XEROX/HP saga playing out is proving that many can't see past what's in front of them and have limited imagination to assist them in discovering how things could be, based on how things should be. It has been a few months since Xerox took the bold action and beat HP to the table in a merger discussion. BUT XEROX IS TOO SMALL TO BUY- THE GREAT BIG HP!! Say those looking with no imagination. Yes, HP should have approached Xerox. HP having three times the market cap acquiring the smaller...

XEROX/HP There's a Lesson Here, Let's thank Carl

Ray Stasiezcko ·
“Anytime my imagination comes to life; it reminds me to imagine more.” So, it’s been a busy week in the print equipment and its services industry. I say, hang on because the speed of its disruption is going to increase. Thanks, Carl Icahn, for hopefully wakening the industry’s leaders to disrupt themselves. Throughout history, most industries were disrupted by outsiders. So, this move by Carl Icahn is welcomed by those insiders determined to kick the ass of the channel’s complacency and...

Imaging Channel Production Print?? Many should Just Say No

Ray Stasiezcko ·
As the print equipment and services industry continues declining it's time to evaluate all aspects of the deliverable. In the days of its growth it made sense for dealers to sell all the industry's equipment. However, today dealers should question that approach. Here are my thoughts on Production Print. There seems to be a lot of talk regarding Production Print. However, if that talk turned into a discussion based on realities, most would listen with caution. The Imaging Channel is chasing...

This Week in Copiers Five Years Ago Second Week of February 2018 Real Copier Sales Mistakes Often a competitive sales rep will try and convince a copier purchaser to switch product based upon how much money we can save you. The sales rep presents convincing Total cost of ownership analysis. The only problem being that sometimes the customer's current costs are totally made up by the sales rep. This Week in Copiers Five Years Ago Last Week of April 2018 Real Copier Sales While driving today I thought about why I lost an opportunity and it was no fault of my own, however it was due to the end of the year push. That end of the year push was from a direct branch of a manufacturer. It was a dump on price to get the order in before the end of the year. Thus, most of us know that the magic month for pushing from manufacturers is the month of March, because the end of the fiscal year is...

This Week in Copiers Five Years Ago Second Week of May 2018 Real Copier Sales Here is something I don't see others do very often...when going in early to renew a 36 month lease, I don't don't "eat" the buy-out, I extend the term. If I'm going to renew at 34 months, I write the renewal for 38 months. I explain to the DM that it ends up being the same 72 months, they just get the benefit of the lower renewal payment a couple months more. The extra funding from a 38 month rate doesn't cover all...

This Week in the Copier Industry 5 Years Ago Last Week of June 2018 Real Copier Sales Today was a sweet day for me because after eight years I finally sealed the deal with a net new client for a $17K order. Eight years! I guess this is a testament about not giving up, not giving up when you don't win the first first and second time.
