Re: Ricoh Ikon Letter
Something to think about as well, adding to what was mentioned by Mega. The Japanese division is making the bulk of their profits on the manufacturing of toner. That is the money tree for them. They sell to Ricoh USA and they work through their channels to distribute the boxes. The ultimate goal is to “place the box” Ricoh USA makes their overhead by the profit on the box moving it to the Dealer and other channels. The profit make by selling the box is what keeps the “Reps paid and the...

Re: Ricoh's move into videoconferencing
Not necessarily a good thing. Its just one part of its new "ecosystem" of information and communication technologies that go beyond print. I could see this tech having a similar impact on meetings as GotoMeeting or Webex did when they came out, which I use a lot. Who knows if Ricoh has the tech or vision to make it work. They are just saying they are going to try. I could see this being a good fit for armed services, government, major corporations, and distributed mid-size corps.

Re: Ricoh Loses another Top Exec
Your comments above demonstrate the frustration that many RFG (Ricoh / SAVIN / Lanier) Dealers are feeling, which began when Ricoh acquired IKON. Since then, many Independent Dealers have picked up another Product Line, or bolstered their business with the other Vendor(s) they were already carrying. Ricoh is simply not stable, especially for Independent Dealers that sell Ricoh / Savin / Lanier. Yet, even the IKON / RBS direct side is faltering and the musical chairs amongst 'leadership' will...

Re: Ricoh Nitix HELP!!!!
We signed up at Vision last year and have been thoroughly pleased although we haven't done much with it. As a matter of fact, we have only installed one but the install went like clockwork and the customer has been very satisfied. We could sell them regularly if we just put our mind to it. My only word of caution is to know what you're selling before you sell it. I ran around talking about a network-in-a-box for under $10,000 which is fine. But I went on and on about all it would do and then...

I attend for three reasons, to get hands on experience with the new products, and too see what Ricoh's Vision is for the next two years. The third reason to kick back and relax and see some country I've never seen before. Art

Re: Ricoh's Monster Garage
At Vision we were handed a competitive analysis booklets vs Canon, Minolta and Xerox.03Cbr> These were done by IA and gave the Ricoh's a great overall review of quality, speed and ease of use. However there is one troubling statement. MAX MONTHLY VOLUME IS 10K What gives??? I have these engines out in the field producing anywhere from 10K to 20K per month! What happens when you need tech support for a service issue and they find out the customer has exceeded the maximum monthly volume?

Re: How to Win Against Direct"
I do believe that classy Independent Dealers can (and do) win against due to providing excellent Service. That is because IKON and RBS fall short in this area. Yet, the game board is now changing, due to Ricoh's strict focus on supporting IKON and RBS at the expense of Dealers (yes with better 'pricing') and economic factors today, more and more business will erode for Independents. Meaning, at the very least, Independents will need to drop their pants and earn far less profit, far less to...

Re: Ricoh Wide Format Marketing
Kudos Art, Ricoh's speech at Vision was full of hot air. They will continue to hold their independant dealers'feet to the fire whenever they want to move boxes. We have been a wide format dealer for 7 years since the 740 and 830 days. We have more units in the field than any other Ricoh dealer in the state. But when we asked for price support on a deal and were told "no, not big enough", and lost to Ikon who beat us by $4,000.00 on a FW470, we realize who we are in their eyes. And who gets...

Re: Service Tracking Software
I used Miracle Service for several years in my business. It has good service tracking & dispatch features, but lacks any real accounting functions. You can expoert data to Quickbooks Pro, as I did, Peachtree or several other accounting packages, but it is quite laborious and you really have to monitor to make sure everything exported correctly. If you are looking at a complete solution, look at LaCross or CalType. Not sure of the costs, but I know CatType is modular - pick & choose...

Here's something I picked up on alerts tonight: HP Inc. CEO Dion Weisler started Monday with a bang. His company, a giant in personal computer and printing, said it would buy Samsung’s printer business for $1.05 billion. Weisler’s hope is that the deal would help HP hpq better compete in the copy machine market and help offset declining sales of printers. HP said Samsung’s printing business brought in $1.8 billion in sales for its fiscal 2015. This number is just a fraction of HP’s overall...

Re: 5 Reasons Why Leaders Of Copier Dealerships Should Have Strong LinkedIn Profiles
Larry I believe, you believe it, yet it seems to me the involvement of "C" level execs on LinkedIn is very low, unless they are all lurkers. There's only a handful of "C" level execs in our industry that promote, inspire and engage. One of my biggest concerns with LinkedIn is that most "C" levels execs either don't have the time or are too busy running the ship to become active. Maybe that next generation may turn the tide with LinkedIn, but for right now, I know more Boomers that are much...
