The Amish Farmer-Printer may take the cake!! I don't think if I sold to every strip club or adult store in the region it would top that. That is awesome!

Re: Is selling at cost the future for print hardware?

lep524 ·
Interesting approach to the sales process. Strikes me the next promo is for 10% below sticker price...of course unlike cars, manufacturers don't put a sticker price on MFP's to advise the public what the price is supposed to be. At this point we find the margin we are able to obtain on most sales of hardware barely covers the cost of sales for the product...any business profits come from services bundled around the hardware, either connectivity plans, support plans, supplies for colour etc.

Go this via email today: Canon intends to make an offer of € 8.60 per Share for 100% of the outstanding Shares of Océ, representing a premium of 70% over Océ's stock price. There does not appear to be opposition to the deal either from European regulators or Océ board members. Océ will remain a separate legal entity as a Canon division, headquartered in Venlo (the Netherlands). The Océ brand is to be maintained and applied in all relevant markets. Océ will continue to lead its R&D and...

The MP1515, 161, 171 are incredible engines, they just run and run without a hicup, I have a few of these that are running 3-5K every month and one was just traded in that had over 200K on the meter. It's not a money maker for the sales person, however it fills the gap when you are replacing a fleet and need a few lv devices that can print, scan, copy and fax. Think of it this way, if you didn't have these devices in the line-up, your customer may look elsewhere to fill the void and alas...

They do keep on truckin', I'll give you that. With the big push to MPS, however, customers are looking to move to more of a distributed printing model instead of centralizing on a few big MFP's. Additionally, MPS has forced everyone to learn how to service HP devices if they didn't already, & anyone can pick up faster HP A4 desktops from Tech Data, & the CPP will be very comparable. I love having Lexmark to fill this whole that Ricoh has left. For the same price as the Ricoh, I can...

This was an article from the NY times over the weekend! SHIBATA-MACHI, Japan — When the ground shook violently on the afternoon of March 11, the ceiling collapsed in part of the huge Ricoh copier factory here, exposing the vents and wires above. The offices at the Ricoh plant near Sendai are still in disrepair; workers have focused on restoring the factory and production. The ceiling is still not fixed. But employees are back at their posts, working under temporary lighting and wearing hard...

The Ricohs have been slow sellers is not because of end user needs or wants. Basically ours is a quota/revenue driven business from the top to the bottom. The preferred compensation model for commissions is that of a revenue based plan with commissions. Why have a GP driven comp plan for your sales people when your Dealership or Branch has a revenue based quota plan from the manufacturers? It just doesn't make sense. With that A4's from Canon, Sharp, Ricoh, and KonicaMinolta has presented...

Found out today, that Assurant does cover floods, I actually got a document from them about their services and I'll post it here later. Seems like most BOP policies will not cover floods, and Assurant will. However this leads to another issue, when leasing companies ask for "proof of insurance" and get a copy of the rider, do they not check to see if their equipment is covered in case of flood? If they miss this and do not charge for insurance is it then their loss and not the lessee? Some...

The Savin Brand Manager for the RFG East Region has "resigned" effective immediately. At least that's how the message was delivered. As an update, after the RFG East Region Savin Brand Manager was forced out (official spin = "resigned") an Internal Posting for the position was all set for distribution. So, the position may not be eliminated, just the person who formely occupied that position. My money is on a 'Ricoh' or IKON employee filling the role and I also bet they will just be managing the revenue downward.

It appears as if they had the candidate who supported IKON waiting in the wings to fill the position of Savin Brand Manager, when the former Savin employee was forced to leave. I’ll play devils advocate here. Ricoh printers are already available online from many places. If Ricoh ever wants to get significant market share in printers they will have to open distribution. The RFG dealer network will not get the market share needed. But in the long run I think this will help us. How you ask???? The current Ricoh printer line is very strong. Art Here is my two cents worth. What goes around comes around in this world. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later. If and when we get to the point of people totally taking out the human to human contact in the sales process, they will then begin to miss that same human to human contact, and start to look to regain it. Its my belief that we will begin to see that very soon in things like facebook. Its a great way to help stay in touch with people. But once people begin to use it to avoid each...
