Re: MPS and Linux HELP!

jdicarlo ·
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY

Art, this is a serious issue. This is no different than hard drives in our computers, laptops, netbooks or anything that uses a HD. They are all storing electronic digital magnetic information. Those that have encryption are not safe if you know what you are doing. These encrypted containers can easily be tapped and opened. If you don't believe me do a little research on computer forensics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_forensics This has been an interest of mine that is quite...

Re: Drum Yields

Art Post (Guest) ·
Many drums fall short for a variety of reasons. A little know secret in the industry is that you would only get "x" amount of pages based on multiple page prints. Meaning if you always printed just one or two pages you could drop the drum yield by quite a bit. I too would like to hear from others on this!

Don't let out that dirty little secret everyone will want a raise! Really that is the truth. We sometimes think everyone would love to sell copiers for a living but in reality it is very very difficult and difficult to find people that can do it well. I think it is easy (30 years of thinking a warped way) but when you get a newbie to the industry they think you are "insane" when you tell them to forget everything they learned in marketing class, or speaking "Portuguese" when you try to...

Re: GlobalScan Training

NateJ (Guest) ·
We have a 40-system install of Global Scan and the need for training is minimal for the Ricoh reps and the end-user. Global Scan has fewer options for customizing a scanned document compared to Scanrouter Lite or Pro. Also, the options for sending are found in one spot and not broken out into several tabs. Operating GS is easy, the issues I have are with the software itself. There are at least two glitches with the software or MFP firmware that Ricoh has yet to fix. Our customer has had the...

Just the beginning...? It has now been a little over six months since the merger of Lanier and Ricoh into Ricoh Americas Corporation. During that time, there have been many changes in our organization and we have all experienced some of the good and some of the bad that change brings. The merger of two organizations having different cultures, systems and business methods is a difficult undertaking and what we have seen since April 1 certainly confirms that fact. Re: Sales Tips

How to Pitch Your Prospects Here's the secret. The way to close the sale is to avoid pitching your prospect. That's right; don't try to prove to them you're the perfect solution. That's the wrong strategy and is a waste of time. The best way to "sell" your prospects is by getting your prospect to do the work for you. Get them to tell you three things: 1. What they are trying to achieve 2. What they want 3. How your products or services can help them

From the outside looking in, this deal begs for a total solution proposal that takes into consideration more than just speeds and feeds but you can't do it justice by tomorrow afternoon. What is the nature of the content? Is content that is color static and the variable B&W? If so, they would be better served financially with pre-printed stock. Is the intent purely to generate an invoice or do they intend to use this output to promote products or services. If it is the latter, have you...

What if you could actually be more successful without selling? Until now, nearly everyone and everything that you've heard or read about marketing has been aimed at hiding your valuable money-making secret from you. They've been demonstrating the worst possible way for you to get business -- and suggesting (or insisting) you follow their lead. They've told you to sell, sell, sell... advertise again and again... push hard... and then get up the next day and do it all over again! Why? Because...

This is what I've heard from Ricoh: Color wideformat scanning available on new 10pp or 12ppm in mid 09. That's alot of help, nothing for LV in the for seeable future. Color Gelsprinter supposedly on the way for late 09 or early 10. I'm not holding my breath for this. Unless Ricoh is keeping a GIANTIC secret, they have no plans for a 45 plus A4 mono or color device.

I personally don't think there is a secret to it - just follow up and be the better rep. My competitors are huge companies; everyone knows who they are. However, their reps are lazy and don't visit their customers. Prospects are amazed when you have been following up with them within the past 3 years or so; meanwhile their current vendor has been through 3 reps already. It really is out of sight, out of mind in this industry.

My secret is keeping the machine clean and the customer kept informed on its operation. We have some (and I'm talking digital models from the last 3 years) that literly go from PM to PM. We have a few that were sold in the wrong envirnment and we upgrade where we can. Downgrading where necessary? I dont think so! We just bite the bullet and do the calls.

I'm really bummed that no one can find the time to chime in. I'll start it off with something Adrian gave me via email. Eye-catching graphic. Dan Kennedy is using the “Top Secret” graphic to catch his prospect’s attention. My personal favourite is to use an envelope printed with my company logo in colour. This gives some branding art to my envelope to differentiate it from other pieces of mail they might have.

I have been hung up on this too. The secret is you are missing one extra "OK" to program the info. If you follow the step by step in the manual you will see at the end it says something like "press OK" Even tho you already did that. You have to OK each step then OK the record. Or loan them a NIC, set up the addy book and remove the NIC.Just (almost) kidding about that part But over a network is so much easier.

So, some of these may be a little off the wall. Dealer exclusive product naming (how different should it be?) I've always thought that when the dealer bought the equipment from the manufacturer that the dealer should be able to "brand" the equipment with it's own name. I was told years ago, that there was a line in the dealer agreements that would not allow this. Thus, I could call my Ricoh MP C5503 a Genesis 3055, and I could make my own marketing pieces. Would be harder for others to...
