Re: 10 Signs You Should Absolutely Hire That Salesperson
In reference to the above blog. If you want salespeople that want to make money (desire). When the interview is almost over, slap $500 bucks on the table and ask the person. How would you rather make this $500 bucks? 1) work 40 hours for it or 2) try to talk me out of it If they choose #1, tell em thank you and we're not interested. However if they choose #2 and they can get through ten minutes of trying to talk you out it, then I recommend offering them the job and not the $500 bucks. Just...

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: UPDATE 3-Canon buys Dutch Oce for $1.1 bln, fights Ricoh
Tokyoamsterdam: Japan's Canon plans to buy Dutch copier and printer maker Oce for 730 million euros ($1.09 billion) as it tries to return to growth after the global downturn and fight rival Ricoh. Copier and digital camera maker Canon and Oce said in a joint statement on Monday that Canon intends to offer 8.60 euros per share, or 730 million euros, for Oce's outstanding shares. Canon's offer follows little over a year after Japan's Ricoh, the world''s largest copier maker, bought US office...

Re: "What is" Section 179
Leasing and Section 179 Did you know that your company can lease equipment and still take full advantage of the Section 179 deduction? In fact, leasing equipment and/or software with the Section 179 deduction in mind is a preferred financial strategy for many businesses, as it can significantly help with not only cash flow, but with profits as well. Non-Tax | Capital Lease The main benefit of a non-tax capital lease is that you can still take full advantage of the Section 179 Deduction, yet...

Re: Printing Envelopes Reliably on MPC300
I think Old Glory means A4. Remember, 4 is less than 3 (it's a metric thing). You should be able to create an "envelope printer" by installing a second instance of the printer with the same IP address. In the PCL 6 driver (not universal), you can go into the printer properties, print preferences, detailed settings and rotate the image 180 degrees. When you say the printer "red lights", what is the error? Is it a paper type mismatch? If so, what is it calling for? How may envelopes are they...

Montecore, I have spent many years in sales and began networking our systems almost 10 years ago. Currently, I handle all of our connectivity and solutions for our company and I have connected and troubleshot hundreds, maybe thousands of computers. I agree, a technician can and should be able to resolve this problem. However, first it is necessary to identify the problem. This requires ruling out what it is not. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. If I tell you this story, it seems simple.

Re: Print Production Sales 101
I agree totally with the previous post. I recently went on an appt. with someone who is specifically trained on the production units by Ricoh. Any of us who have been selling Ricoh or Savin for a number of years, knows how to point out the features and benefits of any of our devices. The success of this appt, was based on relating to the pains of a commercial printer. This person knew what buzz words to use, and what buttons to push. That in turn was applied to the new Ricoh production line...

Day one has passed and overall, I'm impressed with the event. I actually ran into a couple of P4P members and finally after all of these years got to meet Lee Rummage from RJ Young. On Wednesday evening Oki hosted the evening reception @ Hiltons Signature Island. Food, drinks and networking, at this time I also had to the chance to meet Greg Walters (Death of the Copier) and now the newly elected President of the MPSA. I also ran across many new contacts and believe it or not many readers of...

I re read this and if Art hadn't have posted this I would have ripped it to shreds. So here is my new and improved toned down sophisticated paragraph by paragraph interpretation of this. That is how it works. New Sales Managers increase activity requirements when there in't enough. So your on the phone 4 hours a day. So don't miss the goals. Re: Auto CAD & the FW 470
Autocad will print onto 17" paper. But I wouldn't recommend using the 470 to print that size. You would have to find a 17" roll of paper and that is an unusual item. I had this come up with a vehicle manufacturer and they print an enormous amount of check prints in that size. We convinced them to use a connected digital copier (1022-1027-1035)because of the cost difference. $0.025 cpc(11x17) vs $0.196 per linear ft.(470 ems) About a $225.00 per month difference in cost. Sell em a 1022 with...

Re: CompTIA CDIA+(Certified Document Imaging Architech)
Jayson, I am also considering becoming CDIA certified. I'm working for a Savin dealer and I'm told that all Savin management is required to have a CDIA certification. I just recently finished taking the Ricoh U. Image Management Certification Program in an effort to prepare myself for the CDIA test. However, after finishing the Ricoh certification, I'm afraid that it may be too brand specific to do me any good on the CDIA test which I am told is completely un-brand specific. I would,...

Re: Problem viewing files from XP workstation
If your client wants to continue using Netscape, I'd recommend them upgrading to Netscape 4.61 or 4.7 as these versions are officially tested by RSV. The newest versions of Netscape (6 & 7) won't work properly as Netscape has changed the way they handle Javascript so try to stay away from these. The safest route is to use Internet Explorer 5.5 if your client isn't opposed to Microsoft web browsers.

Re: How Can I Solve this Problem?
Ok, I tested my theory and it does not automate the above scenario. The only thing that does work is to scan to folder and have a shortcut of the PS driver in the folder. This way, users could just select the PDFs they scanned, drag and drop to the PS icon, and collect the prints. Another thought, if the customer needs to scan mixed batches, I am assuming letter and legal, then why recommend an MFP that will not automatically separate the image sizes? Doesn't this lead to more time wasted...

There are many benefits to this lease structure and is by far the most dominate purchase option in the industry. Re: Ricoh 2035 vs Mita 4035
Boy, it looks like our whole company is responding here. As a former "real" tech, and long time service manager of a long time Ricoh dealer and relatively new Kyocera Mita dealer, my opinion is that over all, the Kyocera products are much more reliable, have much longer PM cycles and require much less service time for both the infrequent emergency calls and PM's. Bottom line...much cheaper to service! Although the 2035 is an improvement over it's predecessors (350, 1035) it's not a herritage...

Re: Need some advise
In my opinion, Ricoh really doesn't have a "printer" per se' that will accomplish this. I would place a Kyocera FS9520 system in there as a printer for that kind of volume. You might be able to screech by with an AP4510, but I wouldn't do it because I think that is just working it too hard. In HP, they are going to recommend an HP 9000 printer to do that volume. As far as Ricoh goes, I don't know that you can do anything but try to talk him in to a 1055 copier device to do that volume in...

Re: Where Do You see the Copier Industry in 5 years????
I would recommend the book "Getting Insude Your Customers Head" by Kevin Davis. It has made a huge difference in the way I approach sales from my past. Does this slow down the sales process? YES! But when you consider that on average you're fortunate to close 1 in 5 "new business" prospects and this process has changed it to at least 3 in 5, that's huge. Keep it up Brian...it'll work out in the end.

It's Ricoh's own low end embedded controller. Fits all 400 DPI + units (JP4500 5500 8500). Although a GDI controller only, it really pumps out some good quality. It especially enhances the quality inherrent by using new HQ micropore master on the 4500. Really very nice. Built in NIC and parallel. Easy to install and very stable. Higly recommend over any ZipRip, unless PS is required.
