Some great points in this thread. In the end all of the main copier products do the same thing...they put toner on the paper, fuse it and offer a collection of ancillary tools which in many cases are more important (like scanning) than the copy function anymore. Someone said earlier it was the whole package that the client wants to buy...they get impacted from everyone in your dealership, admin, billing, shipping, support, sales and yeh your suppliers too. We charge an inexpensive fee (1 hour labor) to format the hard drive, but if they want something more secure, we will remove the hard drive from the old machine and replace it with a new hard drive. For that, we charge the cost of the hard drive + labor and either destroy the old hard drive or return it to the client. That typically costs less than $500 and is easy to roll into a new deal. We've done this on Sharps, Canons, Toshibas, Kyoceras and Konica Minoltas. The hard drives are easy to...

An interesting note about the above mentioned e2050c in the news release, this might be one of the very first MFPs to offer a SSD (Solid State Drive) as memory storage. I am not quite sure of the advantage of that but Toshiba is the #1 or #2 supplier in the world for SSDs.

i doubt there is any law that covers this. As far as I know, it is perfectly legal to sell your product for one price to one person and another price to another person... Don't we all do this all the time? It actually reminds me of a lawsuit involving Microsoft where they had agreed on a "most-favored" clause in their contract with a PC supplier (Dell? I forget, doesn't matter) meaning that they had guaranteed Dell that no matter what deal they worked out with other suppliers they would...

If you were unsuccessful where you are, but are unhappy with the company or the product, then moving should not be a problem. But if you were successful, and happy, and only the money was the inducement to move, then I suggest you have a good chat to your current dealer/manager before jumping ship, as "the grass is never greener" in most case. And if that turns out to be the case, then you will very quickly become dissatisfied and move on once again which could easily become the descent into...

I'm not sure if that has an equivalent in the UK. here we have the Consumer Credit Act. However, it only applies to consumers. Business to business isn't covered (except in a small number of cases).
