Re: W6700sp help!
Got it, what we use is an exit tray that is sold by "Copier Solution Shop". The new exit tray will allow "e" size documents to exit to the front of the W6700 and they don't have to use the rear exit. I believe it will stack 50 or so. All of my clients love and their has never been a complaint. Here's the link https://www.copiersolutionshop...put-tray-rot-1.html, I will check for a video. I thought I posted one in the "pic's" section of this site.

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: Oki 1450 vs Ricoh 6700 wide Format
So, the Oki or Teriostar 1040 is one page per minute faster than the Ricoh. Oki wants the user to replace the corona wire cartridge and the process cartridge. I believe the process cartridge is the drum. Now, the memories come back, if an end user scratches that drum, it's on the user to replace the drum which is going to be a very pricey item. If I was a business owner I would not want my peeps handling a part that has a cost of $1,500-$2,000. If they scratch it, it's on me to buy another,...

Re: Panasonic Canada discontinues A3 Copier Distribution March 2011
I agree Art, the most notable thing about Panasonic's exit is that it left without being acquired. Is that stage two of the consolidation process? Maybe stage 1B. First is acquisitions, then drop outs.

Re: JOINT STATEMENT BY SHARP ELECTRONICS CORPORATION AND EDWARD MCLAUGHLIN
I agree with almost all of everyone's statements. The truth is its just going to get harder for each of the second tier guys to grow and succeed and considering that Sharp, Kyocera, and Toshiba all have plenty of options outside of printing it would not be shocking to hear if some of them left or sold-out in the next five years. However, the feeling I get is that each of them still has some fight left and although they all face some headwinds none are actively working on their exit strategy.

Re: JOINT STATEMENT BY SHARP ELECTRONICS CORPORATION AND EDWARD MCLAUGHLIN
It will be a challenging time for Sharp, I agree, Ed was a very good leader and actually had a good grasp on technonolgy, he always knew the strengths and capabilities of the products and solutions. Regarding the new User Interface, dont be deluded by comments that it is going to a difficult learning curve, the display may look complex at first glance, but it is the most flexible system on the market. You can make it real simple for the end user and there are features that will blow you...

Re: Why is single clicking an 11×17 on a “copier” legal?
The new machine from any of several competitors will be in place by the time you get back with that permission. Words mean things. Don't attempt to call something "deceit" when it is simply setting a manufacturer provided configuration option. It's a market situation, if the prevailing market (local market or vertical market) dictates single click 11x17, you participate or exit that market.

Re: OKI Data and Toshiba Tec Agree to Joint Development of Multifunction Printers
Rumors have swirled for years on Toshiba's exit of the MFP industry. Inspite..... of their recent and aggressive dealer acquisitions. Neither entity is strong enough to stand on its on. Especially due to the consolidation the industry has already seen. Ricoh/Ikon, Canon/OCE, Konica/Minolta, etc. I agree that both have been low price leaders in the US market as well, and the marriage is a good one. This is the start of Toshiba's exit, and eventual sale to Oki Data. Oki Data just didnt have...

I just tested a 550 in our refurb shop, 40 originals, alternating 8.5x14 and 8.5x11 through the set. I got 13 originals per minute through it (a shade over three minutes). I took the same originals to a 1055 and got 20 originals per minute (a shade over two minutes to complete). Interesting to note here also n the 1055 that although the originals were in the DF exit, there were stil 5 or so copies that had not exited the machine. Thanks! Lee

Re: 600 DPI VS. RISO GR3700
I probably shouldn't tell you all this but there probably isn't any reason that the variable data printer wouldn't work on a PriPort with alittle engineering to get the unit heigth right and one unit secured to the other.. The MX1200 is a multi-head ink jet printer (Made by Graphics Wizard) that rolls up to the exit end of the Riso. You create the master on the Riso with everything that is non-variable. Then a mail-merge program of your choosing sends variable data to the MX1200 which prints...

Re: NEW Duplicator with Paper Cassette
I saw this system demo'd @ Ricoh several years ago. Its development name is Ruby. As you can see from the picture, it is the same design style as the JP5000/5450, thus an older unit, not new. It also only supports UC6 and CPIF26, because it does not have the updated main board to support the Type 80. The product was deemed not suitable for the US market due to the fact that is doesn't have a large capacity exit tray to match the LCT, and the sorter limits you to run lengths of 40 per...

Re: SERI Launch Date
FYI, SeriPrint is compatible with JP5000/5500/8000/8500/TC2 only. When tied into the SeriPrint system, the unit is no longer able to print with the standard emulsified ink offering, as the SeriPrint unit has top mounted rollers at its' exit section, which would cause surface trailing as the emulsified ink would not have enough time to dry. Mind you, who would want to print with "dry-time consuming" inks when you can print with something that dries instantaneously, when "flashed" with UV?

I agree we have the best product! Hope the account is not Xerox incumbent. I lost to a 6204 about six weeks ago, I tried by best to point out the differences however what I did not do is have the customer agree that he needs the Features, Advantage and Benefits of the 240W. After Monster Garage I have changed my tactics to have the customer agree to these points. 1. Have the customer agree that they need an external controller, not embedded. Tell them the FAB on the Plotbase Controlller. 2.

Maybe someone can confirm the short edge or long edge for us. In reference to the rotate sort, you could fix this with a "shift tray" in the exit area, then there would be no need for rotate sort.

Re: Are Your Salespeople Good Losers? Ask Cam Newton...
Old glory, That's a fantastic idea. I had never thought about having someone do an "exit interview" from a prospect after losing a deal or winning a deal. I would bet most sales people don't even know why they won a deal, let alone lose one. I can say that even after many years of selling I still forget at times to ask the client why they chose me. Other times they come out and say it but I bet at least 50% of the time I forget to ask. I am more inclined it seems to ask why I lost rather...

Re: Are Your Salespeople Good Losers? Ask Cam Newton...
Old Glory/Jason, Exit interviews are a fantastic way to truly engage and understand win/lose situations. So easy to get pissed off and move on, human sales nature. Stop and think about all the other things you leave on the table your dealership can support. A true sales professional wants to know why. This is how you improve. All too often the classic is "lost because of price" no you were outsold! Winning is a great way to find out what you did well so it can be repeated over time.
