John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

WOW! Some take ways from the article above: Sharp does not have core business that it can look to in the future 510 billion syndicated loan payment due March of 2016. That's almost 4.2 billion US dollars! Ouch! So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

The solutions range in price from $99 to $599, depending on the solution, but the dealer has some control over the price. There are really only 9 core models (3 printers, 5 desktop MFP, 2 console MFP); the remaining 7 models are simply different standard configurations that are available. All products share the same user interface at the MFP and range in speed from 40ppm to 55ppm.

Completely different businesses and core competencies. The day I see a network company start a true copier division is the day I will concede the two really have synergy. HP is the only company that tried morphing from a hardware company (i.e. Printers) into network services and they are failing miserably their printers and cartridges are all that are keeping them afloat!

We bought the special tool *180 bucks, you send back and get a "core" credit back. We took ours to a machine shop and he made a couple of sets for us at 34 bucks a pair. Great Article The biggest problem we have had lately is product inconsistency from RICOH. Each new system has or does something slightly, but significantly, different from the last one released. The 2035 was a step up from the 1035/45 but even with the advancements it was still lacking the SMTP authentication that we had previously. I was flabergasted when Mike called me this AM!! Nothing surprises me anymore! Oh, thats got to hurt Ricoh big time. But how mucg business can Global and Xerox buy. This is not good news for Xerox, you've read the press releases and they have laid off 3,000 workers (i think thats correct) and then one of their core companies spends millions an an acquisition. Cut and pasted from the Adobe forums: I upgraded to InDesign CS4 a month or so ago. I'm using a 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, Mac OS X 10.5.7, and having trouble printing to two different printers. I had a margin issue with an HP Color Laser 5550, where I never had one before. Then today, I discovered that I could not duplex print to a HP Laser 3005, again this was never a problem with CS3. So needless to say this thread was required reading for me. Of course, the pdf work-around worked.

40% of my business last year came from Schools or Government. I found a few niche pain points that almost any District or Department would experience and used that as my lead in with the appropriate person. I think I figured out what happened. Their PR company accidentally sent out a press release from 15 years ago, not realizing that the core messages they put out were no longer relevant. It's like having Comcast put out a press release that they just bought an ISP and they are going to completely disrupt the dial-up internet market.

Art, Great article I always used the purpose question when hiring. Ask the candidate what their purpose is, what would drive their core being to do what every it takes as long as it's legal, moral, and ethical to succeed in the career of sales? When people have the conviction for their purpose they will have the strength needed when the world of circumstances attempts to stop their momentum.
