Re: 7 Deadly Topics from 7 Deadly Sinners at Top 100 Summit (Part One)

Art Post ·
Is it just me, it seems that the general rule of thumb for the copier industry to end users is "the take or leave approach". Meaning, come hell or high water we're not going to change the way we bill, the way we support, or the financial solutions that we offer. While I was at the Top 100 conference, a rep from Wells Fargo spoke about the billing options that they now have in their leases. One of the options was for seat billing for managed IT services. My thought is that if it's available...

There are a lot more of those than there used to be. That's why our industry has to change the way they add prospects to the pipeline. They are going to have to actually start marketing for a change (spend dollars on marketing instead of salespeople) & do things to position themselves as a resource companies will contact when they need something versus salespeople throwing a million lines in the water hoping they get a bite. It's got to be all about generating in-bound leads and...

There is an all inclusive cpc charge for the Erasable Blue toner. The cost per copy analysis suggests that if on a 60 month lease you do not expect the the customer to erase more than 210,000 pages (3,500 pages per month) you can forget the parts cost and charge the same cpc as for Black at around $0.010 per page with a decent profit. There is no charge other than the users effort to recycle pages printed with erasable blue. If a sheet of paper costs $0.010 and Erasable Blue costs $0.010 you...

Re: How are Sales Going for 2010?

txeagle24 ·
For a few of us at my company, sales have been at about the same levels as previous years, but many of our reps are barely treading water. 2011 is going to be an interesting year due to economic uncertainty and the fact that we will have to win more new business than in years past in order to hit our sales goals. We're counting on some hardware to start to "pull-through" in our MPS engagements as we begin the Optimize phase in the MPS accounts we've won this year.

Re: The reason why Ricoh Bought Ikon

GMAN ·
Art stated: "Geesh, so where does that leave the likes of KonicaMinolta, Toshiba, Kyocera and Sharp?" This specific Ricoh Press Release is a direct response to Konica Minolta acquiring All Covered, Inc. If you read carefully, there is no real newsworthy 'event' or 'announcement' in the Press Release, which is a statement in itself. The Press Release announces an 'intent' rather than an 'action' that has been taken. Sources tell me that this 'dog-and-pony' show was dressed up at an event held...

This was an article from the NY times over the weekend! SHIBATA-MACHI, Japan — When the ground shook violently on the afternoon of March 11, the ceiling collapsed in part of the huge Ricoh copier factory here, exposing the vents and wires above. The offices at the Ricoh plant near Sendai are still in disrepair; workers have focused on restoring the factory and production. The ceiling is still not fixed. This is probably the best article I have ever read concerning the reality at Ricoh: http://industryanalysts.com/IA...esident_%26_CEO.html It is such an accurate depiction of the situation since IKON took over the reigns at Ricoh. The only item that I disagree with is that the Dealer channel is only about 12% of Ricoh's total revenue (as opposed to the 20% mentioned in the article). The comparison to how current leadership at Konica Minolta is steadily growing revenue and becoming the new...

Let's wait to see if these may be the best of both worlds. Comparing Ricoh to Canon, both of them are taking their first crack at monochrome A4 MFPs, so while they are competing against one another, they're primarily competing against perception that existing users of products from HP, Lexmark, Samsung & Xerox. From the TCO perspective, these should still blow HP's M4555 out of the water, at least as long as customers are buying OEM cartridges. Ricoh's A4 products will be great for Ricoh...

Hate to say it but we are a Ricoh dealer and if image quality is the determining factor you are at a disadvantage. We have the previous generation Konica Minolta color that we run in our back office and the KM blows any of our current Ricoh products out of the water on image quality. The only exception is our new production color machine.

Re: Auxilio Loses another 1.6 million

Particularly for large MPS engagements, there can be substantial costs that are absorbed by the provider at the beginning of a contract. These costs are due to repairing printers that have been in need of major repairs, stocking toner in advance of billing, high-CPP printers in a competitive transaction, etc. It can take over a year for some of these large engagements to reach profitability, and it seems like that Auxilio only engages with large healthcare clients. Very valid point if a copier company is trying to manage networks with their core people. I've given this Peter Drucker quote before, "Every company needs to prepare for the total abandonment of everything that it does." Drink Water Before you give a speech, deliver a sales presentation or make phone calls - drink one to two glasses of water. It lubricates your vocal chords, helps your voice and gives you needed fluids that you lose while speaking. Lukewarm water is best. Cool water is OK. Ice water is not good for your vocal chords. Avoid dairy products because they create phloem in your throat.

I don't think it's appropriate to view the ComDoc acquisition as somehow counter to the spirit of the 3,000 jobs eliminated by Xerox. The only time a letter of intent is required is if you are moving to a new leasing company and taking out your competitor. When purchasing printers or multifunction copiers for an office, trade-offs are typically made. Is the speed appropriate for a workgroup or a department? Is color or monochrome output sufficient? Typically, if color output is needed, the user must decide between the photo quality of an ink technology or the slightly more grainy output of a color laser. Of course, the color laser can print much faster than the ink...
