Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days
With no debate, the US Senate unanimously passed a bill that would cut or eliminate tariffs on toasters, chemicals and roughly 1,660 other items made outside the United States. Nearly half of those items are produced in China, according to a Reuters analysis of government records. One can only hope that copy/ print devices and their parts and consumables have had their tariffs eliminated. Since there are no manufactures of copiers/ printers on US soil, I do not know from whom the proposed...

Price is the driving factor, I've heard it all about A4's, such as "A4's can't hold up to heavy volume", oh yea then why do I see laser printers with hundreds of thousands of prints on them and they weigh under 100lbs? The offices at the Ricoh plant near Sendai are still in disrepair; workers have focused on restoring the factory and production. The ceiling is still not fixed. FAC16 is worse. Interesting tidbit...The UK has a small, medium, and large cabinet for this series. This is my guess... There is no way to put this on a cabinet and protect against it tipping over which of course, Ricoh would be liable for. However, if the dealer community comes up with their own answer, Ricoh has plausible deniability. If that is true, I wonder what the Direct side will do.

Re: RBS Continues to Dump Machines & Make Dealers Look Bad!
I just looked it up: Predatory pricing (also known as destroyer pricing) is the practice of a firm selling a product at very low price with the intent of driving competitors out of the market, or create a barrier to entry into the market for potential new competitors. If the other firms cannot sustain equal or lower prices without losing money, they go out of business. The predatory pricer then has fewer competitors or even a monopoly, allowing it to raise prices above what the market would...

It is sad that Ricoh has laid open the market and is allowing the direct reps to compete in current RFG business. The direct operation for Konica Minolta has been put on notice that if they walk into a current KM customer, then they are to turn around and walk out the door. That's from tRick Taylor himself. That doesn't mean if you're a duel line dealer and have non Konica Minolta equipment in there, then it's fair game, but KM is trying to protect its dealer side.

Close, it's an example of an ACCUSATION of illegal dumping, and the Trade Commission is going to respond in a popular way. Article says Chinese apple juice concentrate went from 3,000 metric tons to 40,000 metric tons in three years (twelve years ago), or in other words... from an insubstantial amount to a substantial amount. Price fell by 50% during that time, which economists refer to as "economies of scale". US producers that cut their prices to remain competitive complain that the new...

Re: How do you manage Letter of Intent dates for your customers?
The only time a letter of intent is required is if you are moving to a new leasing company and taking out your competitor. If you are the paper holder then no letter of intent is needed as you can upgrade to return or keep and all the transaction is internal with the leasing company. If a letter is needed make sure it is sent in certified to protect the customer. Leasing companies like to play games after they get these letters. They will call the customer and try to convince them to buy the...

If 99.9% was the case these instances would not even be noticed because they would be unheard of. I think the reality is that around 60-70% of dealers are OK. Another point is that the leasing companies do not give a damn about the state of the copier at the end of a lease. As long as the customer has made all the payments they're...

Ricoh MFPs use 2 bit depth technology with 4 shades per color, vs. Konica's 8 bit depth with 256 shades per color. The Konica color engine (which came from the Minolta side, noted for their color technology) handles color better because it is built to. (What I see when I look at print samples of the same photo: the Konica color looks crisper and more "full bodied"; the Ricoh color looks blotchier and pixelated.) If you have a exacting graphics or marketing client, you can't just skate by.
