Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

RICOH PRO 907/1107/1357 PRODUCTION PRINTER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. Where do the new Pro Series Production Printers fit in the Ricoh high volume monochrome printer product line? A. The new Pro Series Production Printers are successors to the highly successful Digital Document Publisher models, the DDP70e and the DDP92. Those models were initially brought into the Ricoh product family through the acquisition of Hitachi. Technically, the 70-ppm Digital Document Publisher 70e is being...

We have had fairly good reliability out of the new series but some customers complain that they don't seem as heavy duty, especially the paper drawers. Also, I don't think they perform as well on heavier paper weights.

Re: MPS And Profit
There are a number of factors that impact start-up cost for MPS clients. In the traditional "copier" world, prior to putting machines under contract we would inspect them, perform service to bring it up to spec and bill the client. In MPS, we just put them under contract, so the start up cost can be virtually nothing or cost an arm and a leg depending on the condition of the machines that are being placed under an MPS Agreement. Another factor is how much toner the client has on hand prior...

It's either this solution for the customer for about $5K with all of the paper trays for the C431dn or a solution from PB (inkjet and loud) for about $14K. Re: Single click for 11 X 17
Well, there are a couple of ways to look at it. The fact of the matter is, the Canon dealer probably doesn't have a very good handle on the situation. And if the client is running a high percentage of 11x17, then they are going to lose out in service and supplies. We charge 2 clicks for 11x17. And, although I may lose a deal every now and then, by not being close enough to make a difference, we aren't going to lose our pants on mismanaging service. Re: Ricoh 5100en vs KIP 7900
I recently lost to KIP because OUR system would not respect pen settings for shading. On a gray scale generated out of an AutoCAD color wheel they wanted to match shade 255, which is a very light shade of gray to represent hardscape....and we could not even get close. The 5100en just plotted a dark gray. This was specifically using HDI drivers (which was the firms preference due to quqlity expectations)....PCL and Postscript worked fine, but with those we lost a lot of quality control. This...

Although, this too comes with a price. I no longer "show up and throw up". I have learned that too many customers lie about everything, anytime. So they must offer me some commitment in...
