Re: Samsung Copier Million Page Test "A Tree Massacre"

Art Post ·
Seems my Blog about the million page test was not that well received with Samsung. They complained to ENX Magazine who then pulled the blog off their site. Whatever happened to FREE Press? They were not happy that I pointed out that they used "x" amount of tree's for a 1980's type test! Since Samsung spends money with ENX, ENX pulled the blogs and is not posting any of my latest stuff. I think I figured out what happened. Their PR company accidentally sent out a press release from 15 years ago, not realizing that the core messages they put out were no longer relevant. It's like having Comcast put out a press release that they just bought an ISP and they are going to completely disrupt the dial-up internet market.

I had the time at lunch today to listen to a recorded webex meeting from Photizo that offered up speculation on why HP bought Samsung. Here's my takeaways: Patents, more than 6,500 of them 1,500 world class engineers The eventual replacement of all canon marking engines with Samsung Thus, as there was much hype about the purchase of Samsung, I don't think was for the laser based engines, but more for the patents, the engineers, and the laser engines for HP printers. In addition, HP will now...

Art, Great article I always used the purpose question when hiring. Ask the candidate what their purpose is, what would drive their core being to do what every it takes as long as it's legal, moral, and ethical to succeed in the career of sales? When people have the conviction for their purpose they will have the strength needed when the world of circumstances attempts to stop their momentum.

This is a tough business and finding young blood who are willing to gut it out is HARD. I've been in this industry for 5 years now and every year the thought of quitting enters my mind. The reasoning to stick around has to be more than just about money. For me, lasting 10 years in copier sales is the equivalent to getting my "black belt" in "the art of selling." I already have the confidence to feel like I can do anything -- real estate, start my own business, etc... I've gone through the...
