Re: Toshiba Introduces World's First Copier Delivering Erasable and Black & White Prints

Imagine a CMYK copier, except remove the CMY toner and developer and insert a new Erasable Blue (EB) toner and developer. Modify the copier so that when the Erasable blue toner passes back through the heat of the fuser, it de-colorizes the blue to white. A new rules based print driver can automatically makes software apps like emails auto print in blue plus provide a new counter to show how much paper, CO2 and money you saved. The previous generation product appealed to too small a section...

Thanks everyone for the feedback and advice. I did send them an email this morning regarding the Fiery could have been used from the K-M machine. Did not mention Paper Stock, I will make sure that is equal also. I don't have the machines in my showroom, but we do have them in the field, perhaps a field trip to a customer site is the way to go, showing them the samples right there. Then maybe K-M can do the same. Will let you all know when I do.

I did notice that the Postsript is emulated with K-M, where we have the optional Genuine Adobe Postscript3. I offered to include it for free, explaining that True Adobe is better - but I wondering if it is that much better or not. Have there been any comparisons? I hope this may have more to do with color print accuracy than anything else, but I could be wrong.

Unfortunately it was lost. The customer wanted 60 per minute for black minimum and was not concerned if color was slower, since their volume would not be very high. The K-M is 60 black and 50 color, and the Ricoh/Savin is 65 black 60 color, and I was more expensive because of that I am sure, although the pricing was not revealed to me. So they used print resolution as the reason but I think it was pricing, they just didn't want to say it, even though he said we were about even, I am thinking...

FYI. To be technical, Windows 8 introduces SMB V3, improving security features among other things. http://www.windowsecurity.com/...SMB-Connections.html Although supposedly backwards compatible with SMB V1 & V2 found on most current MFPs, the transition is not quite as seamless as Microsoft hoped for. SMB V3 will likely require firmware updates from all of the copier manufacturers to be compatible. I have no idea on the Universal Print drivers until you try them. It is only a short time...

I think it was in the late 70's that Xerox had a huge inventory of 40 cpm Model 2400's that came back from rentals. I order to deplete the inventory and get that equipment back in a revenue generating mode Xerox came up with the K-12 Plan which essentially was an "all you can eat plan" and you simply paid for the supplies. If there was a large inventory of 65 ppm NEW devices sitting in a warehouse somewhere what better way is there than to move the equipment to a revenue generating status...

The way I heard it (this was back when Ricoh dropped them) was that due to the way the contract was written, K-M had no choice but to live out their contract (which had two more years on it). I don't know Art, makes you come across as a bit of a d**k, if you ask me. EVERYONE and their dog says they can do this or that and promises the moon...they have been told to refine their value message and lead with that. Sounds too gimmicky and practiced. I think the best approach is to be real and authentic and lead with confidence and authority. You will never sell everybody, but those who ARE ready to purchase your widget will remember you. IMHO.
