Re: Target GP Margins
There are a lot more of those than there used to be. That's why our industry has to change the way they add prospects to the pipeline. They are going to have to actually start marketing for a change (spend dollars on marketing instead of salespeople) & do things to position themselves as a resource companies will contact when they need something versus salespeople throwing a million lines in the water hoping they get a bite. It's got to be all about generating in-bound leads and...

Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days
Yup, it's a pretty BIG Hammer! I heard a radio report that the US trade debt rose significantly in July. I'm thinking what you stated is that "many of the manufacturers have stuffed thier warehouses". That's probably why we haven't seen anything to date with increases.

Re: A Day That Will Never Be Forgotten
Out here in Wisconsin, I was getting ready for work and listening to the radio, as I usually did then. The deejay interrupted the song that was playing, and I will always remember the stunned tone in his voice and his unusual words. He said, "If you are not watching TV, you need to turn it on NOW." What kind of weird thing is that for a radio deejay to say?! So, I did what he said and that's how I found out about the planes hitting the towers. In the time it took me to drive to work, the...

Re: A Day That Will Never Be Forgotten
I had gone surfing 60 miles south of NYC before work that morning. It was one of the clearest mornings of that fall with perfect waves. Just a perfect after cold front morning. Not a cloud in the sky. I was a technician at the time and on my way to the first call of the day I heard on the radio of the first plane. I got to my first call and the office TV was directly over the copier. I was watching live when the second plane hit. I was at my second call of the day watching on their TV when...

RF Ideas is the biggest provider of readers. Not sure if this works with Ricoh but look at the MiCard Plus readers that will work with 35 different cards and accept 2 different radio frequencies. I would be careful with the single card readers as there is no flexibility for the customer.

hmmmmmmmmm.............. What you showed me looks like some time of interference, digital banding, etc. I thought first of the laser. Hence you have informed me of the copy and print mode the machine is doing this. Have you thought about radio interference? As stupid as this sounds, all copiers under FCC law as a class (whatever devise) have to be able to accept radio waves, whether they are good or bad. If you guys are stumped with this. I would try to add a noise filter and to ask the...

Also, according to the CarTalk radio program on NPR, having your Air Conditioner on is better than having your windows rolled down. The increased drag of the air entering your car causes more load on the engine than running the Air conditioner.

This is the type of Political discourse we all need; Statement of views, discussion and a resolution that we disagree but that its OK to disagree. I hate the "down your throat" rhetoric that you hear on talk radio or the cable "news" networks - nothing more than salacios entertainment. As for the fishing holes I'm sure you know of a good farm pond in Ky.

Wireless is indeed slower than a cable connection ... 802.11a up to 54Mbps, 802.11b up to 11Mbps, 802.11b+ up to 22 Mbps, 802.11g which will accept a, b, & b+ formats. But unless you are transferring REALLY REALLY BIG stuff between the wireless devices, speed should not be noticeable (or if your wireless printer or other device is located quite a distance from the wireless access point as the speed reduces the further the distance) ... remember, those are megabits (8 bits to a byte ...

.0301 is a very competitive rate IFF there are no other fees. I heard an ad on the radio today advertising home mortgages at less than 2%. Are you going to call that number? No way, you're smart enough to know there's a catch. .0267 is -2.5 APR if they get no FMV. That goes up to a whopping +3.6 APR if they get 10% on the FMV which is stretching it nowadays. You think CIT, Wells, GE, DLL, BofA etc. will settle for 3% returns? Wake up to reality. You need to check out your leasing company...

You can hook your laptop up to it and using HP's CDFT, copier diagnostic field tool you can run motors and check component locations. It even has the service manual built into the machine. I...

Agreed that this looks very much like an Android. I'm surprised how fast the panel swipe is. Ricoh has definitely improved the ease of use. Do you think MFP's will soon come installed with Windows or Mac operating systems to become another workgroup computer in the office with print/scan capabilities? Seeing this Ricoh makes me think that is coming in a few years.

Re: 911 Remembered
I heard the news on the radio as I was driving to the airport. I remember going down to the Southwest gate and seeing everybody standing around the televisions as we watch the second plane crashing of the towers. As I left the airport, planes were one after the other landing in lining up on the runway. I'll never forget how surreal that moment was. Today as I was checking in at the American Airlines counter at the Des Moines airport, everyone paused to observe a moment of silence.

Small faxes have that capability at least Toshibas do. First time I've heard it called ring master, up here it is called "distinctive ring" but it is a service sold by the phone co, similar to the old party line system. You can get a decoder box from a phone store or probably 'Radio Shack, it will have a port for the line in, the line 1 and line 2. Some of the up scale models will allow you to adjust line 2 for 1L2S or 2S, other wise the default will be 2 short.

Re: Marketing
I have a bias here, because I take care of our marketing activities along with my other hats. We don't have a formal marketing department, per se, although personally I think we could use a dedicated marketing manager and I would like to see a more planned and valued emphasis on marketing. (Again, there's my bias.) We do not have a marketing plan in writing, but we have core concepts that guide what we do. Our underlying core concept is that we market solely business-to-business, which helps...

Re: USA Presidential Poll
I see two factors at play in the way that the media broadcast news, particularly in the US. The first is to present news to attract an audience, and in so doing it tends to prefer the sensational over the mundane. It is sensational to find the hidden flaws in any public figure, be that political, in the entertainment business or a sporting figure. We see in this US election coverage repeated inclusion of Trump's bogus claims without any serious fact checking and we also see this in...
