From the outside looking in, this deal begs for a total solution proposal that takes into consideration more than just speeds and feeds but you can't do it justice by tomorrow afternoon. What is the nature of the content? Is content that is color static and the variable B&W? If so, they would be better served financially with pre-printed stock. Boy, it looks like our whole company is responding here. As a former "real" tech, and long time service manager of a long time Ricoh dealer and relatively new Kyocera Mita dealer, my opinion is that over all, the Kyocera products are much more reliable, have much longer PM cycles and require much less service time for both the infrequent emergency calls and PM's. Bottom line...much cheaper to service! Although the 2035 is an improvement over it's predecessors (350, 1035) it's not a herritage...

On a seperate note, I don't like a reward for the person who gets first the most times vs the person with the highest % over quota for the year. If it is the same person either way great, but the possibility exists that a consistently good rep would lose out to the roller-coaster rep. I have also always utilized a G.P. quota as well and had the winner be the one with the best average...i.e. 200% sales & 100% G.P. would be a composite 150% as would 200% G.P. & 100% sales. I agree Rick Taylor has done a superb job at KM but I think he does win it every year. Rightfully so in my opinion, but I also believe Cannata uses the same dealers every year. Since I met them a couple years ago and we use 4 or 5 partners on the lists now we have been included in the voting for the last 2 years.

Larry High Schools nor College teaches students "how to work your ass off". I'm a firm believer that you can't coach nor teach someone how to work hard. Knowing how to work hard is one of those innate characteristics within people that only comes to fruition when that person has the passion or drive to succeed. I've seen it time and time again, you can't teach someone how to work their ass of. The either want or don't want to. With sales, we understand that in order to win, we need to lose.
