Re: 57 Days of Selling "Day 44"

Jason H ·
Love it Art! I had a day of running around with a networking luncheon followed by a training for a new device that I sold earlier in the month and stole from Sharp. I was extremely late to the party with this deal but they already had a canon that was very old and decided they wanted another canon and on top of that wanted someone to deal with local over Sharp and Ricoh direct. Then I was walking into the grocery store on the way home and got a call from a person I quoted a machine to about...

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Some great points in this thread. In the end all of the main copier products do the same thing...they put toner on the paper, fuse it and offer a collection of ancillary tools which in many cases are more important (like scanning) than the copy function anymore. Someone said earlier it was the whole package that the client wants to buy...they get impacted from everyone in your dealership, admin, billing, shipping, support, sales and yeh your suppliers too. Re: Lexmark Dealer MFPs vs IT Channel MFPs

txeagle24 ·
The MFP's and single-function printers available via the Lexmark BSD channel are keyed differently than their counterparts that are available online & through the VAR channel. When orders are placed via Ingram Micro or TechData, a BSD receives discounts on both hardware and consumables. The impact the discounted consumables have on lowering the CPP is pretty significant, at least enough so to keep my customers from buying the hardware at a slightly lower price online.

I think we all struggle with where to draw the line. The point I make with my Sales force, as well as with my customers is if you come in one day and you can't scan to email, but it was working fine yesterday the customer perceives this as "my MFD is broken" because one or more of the functions have stopped working. But most of the time nothing on the MFD is broken. The configuration is the same as it has been for the last 6 months (or 2 years). What most often has changed is something on...

Re: Color Print Control

I think we're talking about the same thing in different terms to a certain extent just using different examples. Do the newer printers/MFP's still print black using all colors if "Color" is selected in the driver? If so, then you're right that they would spend the same regardless of the type of contract. If only the black cartridge is used to print black even if "Color" is selected in the driver, then they would spend far more on a toner-inclusive agreement than if they were not under...

It would seem these products are being released to be part of an MPS strategy or to displace competitive units from the likes of HP, Lexmark and Samsung. Are they being released late compared to Canon's 1700 series, yes, since they're not supposed to be available in the U.S. until December, but I don't think they're destined for failure. For clients that like the Ricoh brands but have previously filled their A4 needs with products like the HP 4345 series, these will be a perfect fit. As part...

Probably a good move by both parties, I remember being told raw manufacturing costs of LED devices is less than traditional laser but agree there is very little if any benefit over laser. In the current market you need to provide end to end single function print & MFD in A4/A3 devices with the same user interface, drivers etc so I can see a single badge rapidly approaching. Also by the way HP devices are shipping with SSD's now

Art, CWS is a closed system that ONLY connects to Fiery Rips. Since it can only connect to Fiery Rips there is no option to print a job to anything else. Using Scan Router (Lite or Pro), it does not get any easier than pressing the Scanner Function Key, then selecting your destination and start. Three key strokes to send a document! Don't think any other MFP can do it more simply. With eCopy there may be a log-on, then you have to scan your document, because they make you preview it, then you open up a mail client to select your recipients ... too many key strokes.
