Check this thread out: http://p4photel.com/eve/forums...76084491/m/162102322 What we need more of is open discussions for all. We're all in the same boat, whether we're selling Ricoh, Canon, Xerox, KonicaMinolta, Sharp...etc. Sharing our ideas how how to sell more, learn more about the competition, how certain third party software will enable a solution will all help us in the long run. Re: Managed Network Services discussion
This is an interesting topic. I'm confused as why copier dealers/mfg think we can manage networks? Why don't we just get a lift and do car repair too? Or while we are at it repair game consoles, watches and diswashers they all have some kind of computer in them. This is a totally different Industry and there is little to no cross synergy. ASK HP!

The company I work for has a full staff IT, programmer, installers, on-site engineers, a manager, I think we have a staff of 5 or 6. We are also Certified Cisco, MS GOLD partner, dell partner and have realtionships with many of the tech distributors. I guess management thought it was a natural evolution for us. I'm learning, I'm not happy with the commission plan. 6% on going is pretty pitiful when it takes longer to close, more meetings and I have to then work with possible 2 or more staff...

Sounds like you guys have started a completely new division. As I said earlier there is no synergy, you had to completely start from scratch except for maybe billing, the overhead is incredible and let me guess none of them work on MFP's and the sales people don't want to sell it because its a PIA for little return. Next, let me guess, (if its not already) will be a quota on MNS tied to MFP payouts. If you sell $30k MFP's with no MSN Commission rate is X% if you sell some contracts it is...

I was being facetious when I mentioned Sears. Just trying to make the point that its not that easy. MPS is easy. Cross train tech guys on HP and Lexmark, that already know imaging basics and turn them loose. Then your synergies take over. Your regular reps sell it and you don't need a stable full of specialists that are persnickety to say the least maintaining it.

Re: Patent infringement for scanning from copier.
It is sort of a scam....sort of. But not really a scam per se'. It's a real law firm. It's a real patent. And it's a real threatening letter. More of a cross between extortion and ambulance chasing. So what do you do when your client calls you about this since you sold them them the copier.

From: Jim Stocker Sent: 11/25/2002 10:56 AM I have to agree with "mug"(?), Duplo (800-255-1933) makes a fine folder, best in the market in my opinion (especially for heavier stock and cross-folding). However, none of them offer a perf/scoring attachment, although they do offer a stand alone unit that does just that. I've been dealing them for close to nine years now, and they do offer great support, sales and service. MBM is still the best bet for an all in one application. Jim Stocker

This retagged Samsung product is in my opinion below Ricoh's standards. As an independent distributor, we have sold some of the Samsungs over the past year and a half and found them for the most part to be a disappoinment. I believe Ricoh is targeting the same SOHO prospects we were when we began implementing the Samsungs. My conclusion is that these prospects are better off purchasing from retail stores if they want inferior products. There has to be a line we won't cross, and under $1000...
