Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days

Responding to this question could immediately dissolve into a political debate. One fact is clear and that is that tariffs are essentially taxes that become Federal Gov't general revenue that can be used anyway the Gov't desires such as fund its massive deficit. Whatever money the Trump Administration gave away to its citizens in its tax cuts of 2017 it is now going to claw back with higher taxes disguised as tariffs.

" When one door closes another door opens. Many US companies can benefit from the higher tariffs placed on goods from China. In fact I spoke to one of those companies last Thursday. I disagree that the tax cuts are going to claw their way back with higher taxes disguised as tariffs. In the end, what Trump wants is fair trade practice...

You're getting good answers, but sometimes the third of fourth approach to answering the question helps. Not to imply that the previous answers are incorrect or incomplete. 1. "Lease Rate" is a convenience, given to you so that you can multiply your selling price by a number and end up with a payment acceptable to the lessor. 2. The "Short answer" from your leasing company is "We'll do that deal for 36 months at 0.0302". 3. The "Long answer" which they will seldom give you is: - We believe...

Re: Need Leasing Help!

Old Glory ·
Great America is now doing print fleet management leases which by definition funds a payment not collateralled (not really a word) by equipment. If they are willing to that, I would think that they would no longer hold to the typical maximum 125% of MSRP rules. Another idea...can you pre-fund maintenance and exaggerate the rate? By that I mean add $68,000 to your normal maintenance rate but attribute it all to maintenance. I've never tried...just trying to think outside the box.

Re: Storage of competitor's equipment during lease

Old Glory ·
Now-a-days there is no such thing as buy-out to Return...only buy-out to keep with a very high residual. We have stored equipment but the leasing company can never know about it. Marlin Leasing for instance sends it immediately to their legal dept for litigation if they find out. Far and away, the best answer is to fund the payments into the new deal and write the customer a check and have them make the payments and store the equipment.

I ask a Banker at one time, and figured it out to about 14%. If you assume one thing, that is the leasing companies want the same interest rate weather it FMV,10% or $1.00 buyout. Using DLL rate, the interest rate is about 13.60%. That's taking a fund rate of $ 5,000 over a 3 year period. The reason most people lease is base on there accounting procedures and how they write things off for taxes. Remember one thing, most people are payment buyers. Re: Does anyone have a clue as to how the CPC billing model started in the first place?

Old Glory ·
I remember a plan that didn't really take hold but it was a plan like the one John talked about and all accessories were proposed in the form of copies...you want a finisher, just commit to 10,000 additional copies per month. The CPC rate had an equipment portion attached to it so more clicks funded more equipment. If the CPC was normal plus .003, 10,000 clicks added $30/month which would fund $1,500 additional. Some customers that weren't willing to pay $1,500 would agree to 10,000 more...

Re: Inflated MSRPs & Leasing

Where the typical benefit of higher MSRP's is typically realized is when buyouts are involved. Since most leasing companies will only fund 125% of MSRP, there can be limitations on how much of a buyout you can roll into a new lease depending on how high that buyout is. At least for me, this typically comes up when stealing a dissatisfied customer from a competitor that has a while left on their lease.
