Re: The Quest for $200K Starts Tomorrow

George KRebs ·
Art, I loved this column, especially the lead- in history of your start as a technician. That was me in 1978-79. I worked for a Canon subsidiary in Union NJ as a tech. Just moved here from Ohio. My service manager told the owner after a year " he is a passable tech but he keeps losing his tools". It was a sign from God, I guess. Good luck on your quest. Art, I worked for Office Products & Systems, a Canon subsidiary located on Vauxhall Rd in Union and then we moved to Mountainside. They were taken over by the New York subsidiary. I worked for them in 1978-79. I think you are right about the name. George Sent from my BlackBerry 10 smartphone on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. Color Label Press University "Glossary of Terms" Part Nine, Course One

Art Post ·
Yes, Since Summer is winding down, I thought I'd get back in the groove with the glossary of terms for Color Label Presses. It was a few months ago when I went cold calling in South Jersey. I was on the lookout for copiers but also wanted to keep my eyes open for companies that could benefit from a label press or a corrugated press. If you're not familiar with a corrugated press that device will allow a user print graphics for use on card board boxes. I was able to find three companies that...

My sales month ended today, thus allowing time for our beloved bean counters the chance to close the month on the calendar end of month. don't mind and I'm kind of use to it. I figure that closing the month early gives me two end of the month chances to close some orders. Of course one is our actual close and the other is calendar end of month. December this year is a little frightening since Christmas falls on a Tuesday. Which means most will not be working on the 24th. Thus December only...

Xerox "Unable to Adjust"

Art Post ·
About four weeks ago I was told that that Global Imaging was going to be absorbed by Xerox in the next few months. In addition it was mentioned that this absorption would result with the loss of many managerial positions. In fact one of those managers called me to ask a favor in reference to a past issue that was posted on this site. It didn't take long for me to put two and two together and I agreed that most of what I heard could come to fruition. After that initial conversation the last...

IT Security, Compliance Become a Difficult Balancing Act

David Bailey ·
Organizations in health care and virtually every sector have been challenged significantly of late when it comes to protecting information from breach, exposure, theft and loss, as so many threats have emerged in such a small period of time. The cost of experiencing a major data breach is going up quickly as the years pass, and the rate of entities (healthcare providers) to not have been impacted by one of these events is falling fast as well. These are some of the many reasons why...

In a few of threads that were posted for Production Copiers I see the cost per page was .0039 and .004. Never, ever did I think that A3 black MFP's would go that low. After seeing many bid quotes would it be far fetched to think that black could go down to .0025? I guess for manufacturers or dealerships that aren't doing well, offering such low cost per page pricing on bids can get you cash flow on the short term. However it's going to bite them in the ass long term. I read a report just a...
