Re: 57 Days of Selling "Day 16"

Art Post ·
Never ever stop prospecting is the key. Always adding and subtracting. I would say on average I keep about $100K of deals I think can close in 30 days. I focus on 180 because 2/3rd of them will either roll, or lose. 90% of the time, I will wait until the first contact to determine if that appointment is an opportunity. Once it's in the funnel, I then determine when it may have a chance to close. If's it's more than 50% it's going in the 30 day close funnel

Wow the OKI wide formats! Haven't run across any of these yet. I do remember that Oki bought a minor wide format player a number of years ago. Ah, now I remember, it was the Seiko wide format devices. I need to brush up on this one for you. The first thing I would lead with is how long Ricoh has had the same digital print engine. I believe it to be one of the most reliable engines on the market today. The Ricoh MP W6700 and MP 7100 are identical except that you can add a dual roll feeder to...

Hey all. I am one of the support reps from Ricoh for PPDM. The product is FABULOUS. The roll out has just started in the field, really, and we are learning the product. The only real problem we have been having is with the server. Those have been IIS issues, not PPDM issues. Also, watch for firewall conflicts. The product allows for BATES stamps, scan to almost anything, and 99% OCR. Once it is up, it appears highly stable. If it crashes, removal can be tricky, but we have a fix for that.

JasonR, you are on a roll. We could then mix the "bad" leases in a little at a time with pools of "good" leases, buy insurance on them, and sell those. We'd try not to think about the fact that those would be further mixed with more "bad" and "good" leases... To make this REALLY roll though, we'd need Congress to step up. Follow the pattern of the 90s, and punish any leasing company that insists on only writing leases with customers who can repay. Block the merges of those leasing companies,...

We charge an inexpensive fee (1 hour labor) to format the hard drive, but if they want something more secure, we will remove the hard drive from the old machine and replace it with a new hard drive. For that, we charge the cost of the hard drive + labor and either destroy the old hard drive or return it to the client. That typically costs less than $500 and is easy to roll into a new deal. We've done this on Sharps, Canons, Toshibas, Kyoceras and Konica Minoltas. The hard drives are easy to...

You should be able to go to a broker and get another 50ppm Toshiba for dirt cheep. I'd swap the machine out or fix the existing one. No way would I roll the lease on the customer. Just be honest with the customer and do the right thing by them. One call to a competitor for a quote and you are toast. Make it a positive in the customer's mind. The customer will respect you more in the long run if youdo the right thing. Roll the lease and risk losing the customer forever.

Yoda, you need to not be so quick to throw around the "ignorant" and "dumb" labels. Just because something is true in your tiny little world does not mean it is universally true. For instance, we share revenue from the first month, not the third but what difference does that make. It is still not in the best interest of the customer (in most cases), which should be our primary concern. That brings me to your next, supposedly obvious, observation. Autocad will print onto 17" paper. But I wouldn't recommend using the 470 to print that size. You would have to find a 17" roll of paper and that is an unusual item. I had this come up with a vehicle manufacturer and they print an enormous amount of check prints in that size. We convinced them to use a connected digital copier (1022-1027-1035)because of the cost difference. $0.025 cpc(11x17) vs $0.196 per linear ft.(470 ems) About a $225.00 per month difference in cost. Do they really have 21" and/or 15" roll paper available ? I would have them put 22" inch (standard and available) paper in and do a user define print size, making the defaults "auto-rotate", "middle-center" . Also do "maintain ratio" and "cut-select" to ANSI C, 17 x 22. Explain the benefits of an extra 1" border and you'll be fine. Greg

I stock and sell 15" paper (for other plotters that are spindle - loaded) but don't move very much, partly due to the need to offset the roll and CAD page setup hassles. Most customers are content with 22" output. Ricoh users don't have any choice.

KIP 6000 is very similar to 470. SIngle footprint, easy to use keypad, paper roll end flanges. Print quality tends to be good, copy quality is below average. on KIP 600 you need to reverse collate your originals when you need sets, or else when you feed originals 1 - 9, sets are ordered 9 - 1.

I sell both the KIP and Ricoh Wide Format Products. The KIP 6000 is a really good unit, especially in the hands of a really good sales rep. If I had to sell against it I would focus on. 1) The scanning speed. It can have on of four scanners. Most likely is the 2050 at 2"/sec. The 2080 at 3.2"/sec or the 2120 at 4.8"/sec. The Ricoh is a lot faster than the 2050 scanner. The way to tell which scanner is being used is to find out the model being proposed. The 6052 or 6054 is the 2050 scanner.

Thanks for the info. I don't think that this will work for my customer though. He wants the machine to be smart enough to print a smaller print on the wider roll but not print the wider drawing on the smaller roll and lose image. My understanding of the forced print is that the controller will print regardless of whether there is paper to accommodate or not.

All of the mavens are recommending a gradual upgrade to SP2, and I am sure that if the customer has an IT staff, they will be able to handle it. But when the rest call in with a problem, my first question will be, "have you just upgraded your XP installation with SP2?" Do you want it fixed or do you want me to come out @ $75.00/Hr.

The tech needs to check SP-1960. A setting of 0 will tell the machine that only the bypass is available. If they have 1roll feeder it should be set to 1. If they have 2 roll feeder it should be set to 2. If they have one roll feeder and paper cassette, it should be set to 3 and if they have 2 roller feeder and paper cassette it should be set to 4. The machine will not auto detect accessories, you have to tell it what it has.
