Re: COVID-19 Impact on Dealers and the Channel?
I was on the MPSA call today. Here's some points of interest I was going to post on another thread but will put it here for everyone. One major MPS company reported 29% decline in pages or revenue Another major MPS company reported a 71% decline Healthcare for one of those clients saw a 40% increase More inquires from clients in respect to file sharing and content Expecting continuing decline for another 30 days in revenue and prints First week of April they hit bottom and has stayed that...

Re: RISO ME9450 Questions
Aside from RISO's SF5130, all of their duplicators now come standard with a network card for network printing. However, printing from MAC OS requires ordering a Mac Driver which requires a license key ordered from RISO - doesn't cost anything to order. Also, RISO's Mac Drivers are always behind with current Mac OS versions. They haven't released a driver compatible with OS X 10.15 even though it's been about 6 months since 10.15 was released. Sorry I'm late to the party.

Re: Is This the Beginning of the End for the Padding of Lease Rates?
Padded lease rates are used to "pad" the pockets of dealer principals who are taking commissions away from their sales people. It's a dishonest but standard practice that should be eliminated, so this sounds like healthy change in the right direction.

Re: Is This the Beginning of the End for the Padding of Lease Rates?
In some cases, more is made on the lease padded rate than the salesperson makes in commissions. Others may tell you that they use the "padded" rates to create promo's for the reps. Do I look like I need an incentive to sell? Frak that, if you need an incentive to sell then you need to get a job at Mickey D's

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: Color MFP Trends, Tactics, etc
In about 5 placements, I've been able to take customers from existing A4 color devices and put them into one of these models for not much more than what they were paying, the high cost of A4 color consumables was the key when the user was making about 1,000 color pages per month along with 1,500 or more black. The low price cpc is an advantage with the Ricoh models. I have used a few of these systems as seed models, meaning that they take the color unit and commit to the lowest possible...

I have one of these in the P4P market, after 4 months all seems well and customer is satisfied with media offereing and quality. The one thing that has changed for this unit, since its the same engine as the MPC6000 and MPC7000 is that default from the factory is 11x17 single click and lower consumable costs. Making an inroad will depend on how dealers will position this unit, dealers more than ever can now be competitive with single click 11x17, and if you're going to play in the P4P you...

Re: High Volume Updates
RICOH PRO 907/1107/1357 PRODUCTION PRINTER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. Where do the new Pro Series Production Printers fit in the Ricoh high volume monochrome printer product line? A. The new Pro Series Production Printers are successors to the highly successful Digital Document Publisher models, the DDP70e and the DDP92. Those models were initially brought into the Ricoh product family through the acquisition of Hitachi. Technically, the 70-ppm Digital Document Publisher 70e is being...

Re: A4s and Single Function Laser in MPS
no 3-5 is not back in MPS. Toner out is a way of describing the sales model for standard laser printers, where the aftermarket revenue is generated by the sales of toner and other supplies versus charging a set CPC for all supplies and service.

Re: Ricoh Introduces the Aficio MP 2851 and MP 3351 Digital Imaging Systems
Makes sense. Do you know if the $7,600 and $9,250 apply to the base SP models. If so, what are the SRPs for the SPF models? About $1k more? There are almost no generational improvements in these outside of App2ME, standard PPDM, and the optional keyboard so I cant see much higher prices. Plus it looks like RPCS is gone. Is that the end of host-based printing for Ricoh?

We really didn't have a product to compete directly against the bizhub PRO 6501 and this provides us with a much better offering. All products share the same user interface at the MFP and range in speed from 40ppm to 55ppm.

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
On all current Toshiba copiers with HDD, 128 Bit AES Encryption is offered standard but it has to be turned on by a Service Code. The cost is that it somewhat slows down the copier's performance. In my experience, 128 Bit is rarely turned on when I inform the customer of the trade off. Maybe I should just turn it on in the future and not tell the customer. The optional DataOverwrite kit is very rarely purchased by small Commerical customers but often by Gov't & Schools.

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
I've haven't worked in this area in a while, but last I knew, the Ricoh security options were OPTIONS. The multiple overwrite options did not come standard, the customer would have to pay extra to get them. In other words, if this is a customer concern, you can address it. If however they are only concerned at end of term... options are limited.

Yes, they are just standard HDs, you could do that (pull them out and do an overwrite).

Re: Does your Copier Service Contract still reflect 1970's Analog Copiers?
Over my 15 years as a Sales Manager to 23+ independent dealers, I have seen many situations where dealers simply has far too simplistic service contracts that had not been updated ever. They mostly involve billable Pro Services, unstable Power Supply, two competitive vendors trying to flip each other's Service Contracts and Fuel Surcharges. Re: Top 9 Blunders that B2B Sales Reps Make
Blunder #5: They give a generic sales pitch. What they do: They natter on and on about their company, its offerings, and its strategy. Why they do it: Usually they’ve been handed a “standard” presentation created by marketing people who have no idea how to sell. What happens: They never really find what the prospect wants and needs, so the pitch is just a “spray and pray”. Your Action Plan: To avoid this blunder, get “centered” before your next sales call. During your conversation with the...

What specifically are you looking at regarding MSRP? From what I hear the price went up because the units now come standard with DOS and encryption for the harddrives. If you take the base cost of the replacement units and add the costs for the DOS this shoudl be the new costs.

Just looking for the dollar amounts. Got em now, thanks. Ricoh increases MSRP with every new generation, so maybe this one is justified with the new standard security features. In the end, the new model's 8-10% higher prices will be more like 2-3 on the street level.

Re: Competitive Copier Vendors

Wow!!!! This is a killer all right.....how in the world can we compete against a 25ppm A3 machine with a price like that. From what I know this is stripped down compared to most 25ppm systems. There are many options that are standard on others. That is why this is so cheap. If someone just needs a barebone system at an incredible price this is it.

As the author finally arrives at near the end “old selling” is dead. As buyers change, great sales people have to change with them. Selling is alive and well, it has just changed. 2.
