Re: Leasing, Insurance, Padded Rates, Buy Out Price
If you sell at or above MSRP due to significant GP or because a buyout was involved, I would quote the Stream of Payments of the hardware + the buyout, excluding the portion of the monthly payment attributable to Service/Supplies in the case of a bundled lease/service agreement.

Re: Leasing, Insurance, Padded Rates, Buy Out Price
Tx, ty for this this. I don't bundle MA/Supplies. I just don't want my customer to get jammed in case there is a loss. We've had quite a few losses here in NJ with the storm from a few years ago. I'm just looking for the right thing to do for customers who opt out of the leasing companies insurance. I'm somewhat skeptical of giving them stream of payments plus residual, may open up a can of worms.

Re: Toshiba e-Studio Erasable Toner 4508LP Questions
There is an all inclusive cpc charge for the Erasable Blue toner. The cost per copy analysis suggests that if on a 60 month lease you do not expect the the customer to erase more than 210,000 pages (3,500 pages per month) you can forget the parts cost and charge the same cpc as for Black at around $0.010 per page with a decent profit. There is no charge other than the users effort to recycle pages printed with erasable blue. If a sheet of paper costs $0.010 and Erasable Blue costs $0.010 you...

Re: MFP Purchase Decision Makers?
Depends on the size of the account. My big accounts......say companies with more than 100 employees......the decision maker is the Director Of I.T. in every case. Perhaps the IT Director runs it by his upline but I deal directly with IT. The mid-sized customers it tends to be a management level person other than the owner like a GM or CFO. In my small clients it tends to be the owner.

Re: MFP Purchase Decision Makers?
It depends on the value proposition I want to bring forward. If I am going with the whole "we'll save you money" pitch, I'll start with a CFO or Director of Finance. If it's regarding document management or a fleet replacement, I'll start with IT Director/IT Manager and go from there. Larry Levine's teachings on LinkedIn have been really useful with cracking into appointments/conversations with these types of people. C-level execs and directors are very career-orientated, so they tend to...

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

RATIO is the company that makes the controllers/software for the Ricoh wide-format, so not an issue in this case.

I received a telephone help call from one of our clients who had a malfunction code on their new copier. To clear these malfunction codes it’s usually a case of opening the front door for a few seconds and then closing it again. I asked the client to do this and then come back to the telephone. He returned a few moments later and asked “now what” I asked what happened when he opened and shut the front door, did it clear the code. “no’ was the reply, “it just got colder in here” He’d opened...

You're getting good answers, but sometimes the third of fourth approach to answering the question helps. Not to imply that the previous answers are incorrect or incomplete. 1. "Lease Rate" is a convenience, given to you so that you can multiply your selling price by a number and end up with a payment acceptable to the lessor. 2. The "Short answer" from your leasing company is "We'll do that deal for 36 months at 0.0302". 3. The "Long answer" which they will seldom give you is: - We believe...

Yes, the same will hold true for the 40/50 series, not sure how soon to launch though. Attached is the SIG that details all 4 units.

Even if there's a conflict, the machine would still have the IP. Also, if it's static, there is nothing the switch/model/router could have to do with the IP address. If it's dynamic, then the device providing the IP could have an issue. In this case, I can't say if that's the server/modem/router. Honestly, the most likely...

This is almost universally true. In the case of HP, it is only not true because of the price difference in HP toner and non-HP toner. We'd be hard-pressed to beat (for example) Ricoh on price selling toner we buy from Ricoh.

My rule is, if they need more training, or something wrong or inconvenient with the way I set up the print scan, I'll make it right, no charge. If they add a workstation and want it configured,if they changed their router/switch, decide (after 60 days or so) they need a different configuration, or some O/S related problem, that is chargeable. It certainly caused a rather heated conversation between me and one of my customers before we found out about it. In that case, it was really hard to say whose fault the problem was. The MFP was just clicking as it was instructed from the application, but the application was just doing what the file told it to and the file had been made by the MFP. We just agreed to a credit (since they hadn't used color toner in making the print) and changed their drivers back to defaulting to black.

Old Budget is $101,500. New "total cost" for "lease-purchase of copiers and service" is $92,000. Cost per page is $0.04. Volume is 7 million per year. 7 million x $0.04 = $280,000 per year just for the clicks. I'm going to guess this is simply a case of bad reporting and not a case of the school board being unable to add.

My understanding is that the MFP "clicks" every time it measures X length (based on single/double click) pass the registration roller. That being the case, the banner would charge for whatever length passes, so (assuming single click 11x17) if you print a 34" banner, the MFP will click 2 times. Interestingly, if you print a 42 inch banner, the meter should click 2.47 times. Those fractions aren't visible, but the technician I spoke with assured me the machine remembers them and adds them up...
