Jason, We don't were a repro company as well and we only use KIP. It's tough getting a company to switch.... But like I said look for a big switch over to color in the next couple of years.

Re: CFG & SSL Reader problem with Plotbase
Heres another problem I sometimes see. Today I received 3 calls from customers, all in the farthest reaches of our area. All have expired licenses. I would suspect from previous post (see above) that power outages or improper shutdowns could be the reason. I would hate to think that this software is unstable as was the Repro for the 7030.

repost from the league In response to your issues - yes - Ricoh is following/benchmarking Oce's practice of setting up dealer vendors at local repro shops that sell only Ricoh wide format (instead of full product line). This has been a successful model for Oce and I could only imagine that Ricoh wants to follow suit. Duncan-Parnell is a Carolinas based Wide Format Repro/Surveyor Supplies/Xerox full line wide format dealer with roughly 1,200 wide format placements in this area. They have just...

Not sure which controller you're using? Visual Edge, Repro FX? You may be able to plot to file from Vista, using an HP 1050 or other similar driver, then drag & drop into either the VE or ReproFX hot spool folder. Plotbase|PM can do it for sure, replacing the old controller and providing full Vista support, if you don't mind spending some $

This thread was posted on a KIP forum in reference to the Xerox thingy: No, it's big. Don't underestimate the power of the big red X. Xerox is by far the biggest name in the Repro world. If they thought it would make them money they could put a whole lot of dollers into R&D, fortunetly for KIP and OCE they don't see the value. The big question now is can KIP and OCE survive, KIP has had 10 straight losing quarters and OCE is living off color. If KIP can't come up with affordable color...

Since December 1, 2004 we have closed 7 Ricoh digital wide format boxes here in the Charlotte area. The controller was never updated past AutoCAD 2000 or 2002 and can only run on NT. If a customer wanted to update, they need to upgrade the PC, possibly the Little Bear Card, and also purchase the Ratio version of the software for the 7030D. It's a lot of expense and probably not much return for the customer. May be a good time to get into an Aficio 240W. If you still want to pursue the controller upgrade, there is a company in Ohio that now handles the Repro Fx controller since Visual Edge...

Hey, this really helps. I was on Ricohs AF league and there is one short ppt presentation that really doesn't tell you much. I've learned over the years that P4P members can give additional insight like you have with the OCE repro and that a user is plotting to hot folders. So, I guess this raises another question, are you stating that by printing to hot folders you can already have the specific paper sizes and reproduction ratios pre-set, thus all they have to do is send the print job to...
