Good post. I agree that enthusiasm is critical in the area of leadership. I also agree that good management is critical in driving progress...which can ultimately result in transformation. However, we differ in the idea that someone is either an enthusiastic leader or a good manager. The most effective and enduring leaders I have worked with have also had very strong management skills. They were not necessarily the ones in the trenches on a daily basis...but they possessed an understanding...

George KRebs ·
Art, You and I are from similar professional backgrounds and times. We started in 1980 selling Sharp and Juki typewriters. Everything sold near MSRP. Then the fax boom came and we caught that wave perfectly. We sold Ricoh thermal faxes for full list ($2995.00). The only issue was cash flow; we sold them faster than we could order and purchase them. Copier Maintenance agreements went from .022 up to .035 and did not include drums, developer, toner, fuser rollers or lamps! Also, like your...

I'm not sure if that has an equivalent in the UK. here we have the Consumer Credit Act. However, it only applies to consumers. Business to business isn't covered (except in a small number of cases). "I've almost never seen a disputed copier lease where the lessee wins. I'll admit I'm no expert in leasing however most of these agreements are rock solid." In my experience the reason why they're perceived as rock solid is because they are rarely challenged. If they're not challenged they'll...

The facts in the data also show that A3 equipment takes three service interactions to only one service interaction on A4 running comparable volumes. Larry High Schools nor College teaches students "how to work your ass off". I'm a firm believer that you can't coach nor teach someone how to work hard. Knowing how to work hard is one of those innate characteristics within people that only comes to fruition when that person has the passion or drive to succeed. I've seen it time and time again, you can't teach someone how to work their ass of. The either want or don't want to. With sales, we understand that in order to win, we need to lose.

Art, do you ever notice that CUSTOMERS are the ones that tend to make decisions towards the end of the month? Czech Yes and no. What I do find is that are many that will procrastinate with the decision making process. Usually, this means that there is some type of objection and the client is entertaining other offers. In many cases I run into the same thing with new offices, but what aggravates me the most is the client that refuses to email you back or take your call after you've meet with them the first time.
