Re: Desktop Shortcut to Scanned Images via store to HDD in scanner
Its pretty strait forward. Default the scanner to Store File to HDD. At the PC create a desktop shortcut to Web Image Monitor. Have customer click on Print Job/Store File -------> Document server. They will be able to download the document. The real problem though is you are encountering a lazy IT guy. Any IT guy worth his salt will help you set up scan to folder.

Re: Ricoh & Epson = "perfect together" NOT!
Wide Format is in a big transition right now, I know KIP is no longer going to be putting any R&D into monochrome printing anymore. Its all color from this point forward, I know Oce (or CSA) is thinking the same way. I can't speak for Ricoh but at this point why would you put any money into it. Ink jet is not the answer ether so the Epson deal in not going to get you into too many doors. If the KIP 800 series is priced right (somewhere in the $25K-30K area) a lot of them will be going...

Re: W6700sp help!
Like Art, it is rare that a 6700 leaves here without the aftermarket try. Just a heads up on that tray.......if the customer bumps into the tray there is a very good chance that the metal tray will fall on your customer's feet. I had it happen to me. To see what I mean mount the tray on your 6700 and push the tray forward in the center......the two hooks will disengage and the tray will come crashing down. I came up with a very simple modification to this tray that will eliminate the...

Meanwhile you could walk to almost any fax machine in any of their locations and grab patient info from the fax trays.

Re: MFP Purchase Decision Makers?
It depends on the value proposition I want to bring forward. If I am going with the whole "we'll save you money" pitch, I'll start with a CFO or Director of Finance. If it's regarding document management or a fleet replacement, I'll start with IT Director/IT Manager and go from there. Larry Levine's teachings on LinkedIn have been really useful with cracking into appointments/conversations with these types of people. C-level execs and directors are very career-orientated, so they tend to...

Good post. I agree that enthusiasm is critical in the area of leadership. I also agree that good management is critical in driving progress...which can ultimately result in transformation. However, we differ in the idea that someone is either an enthusiastic leader or a good manager. The most effective and enduring leaders I have worked with have also had very strong management skills. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: A Few Copier Vignettes from the Late Eighties & Nineties
Art, You and I are from similar professional backgrounds and times. We started in 1980 selling Sharp and Juki typewriters. Everything sold near MSRP. Then the fax boom came and we caught that wave perfectly. We sold Ricoh thermal faxes for full list ($2995.00). The only issue was cash flow; we sold them faster than we could order and purchase them. Copier Maintenance agreements went from .022 up to .035 and did not include drums, developer, toner, fuser rollers or lamps! Also, like your...

All current model copiers equipped with a Hard Drive, will have the included 128 bit AES Data Encryption feature turned on upon initial delivery. Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
Simply handing over a copier's HDD removes the OS within the copier making it unuseable. Plus there is some labour to remove the HDD and reload the firmware onto it. At least $200 - $300.00 total vs turning on 128 Bit AES Encryption at the start - Free. Going forward, we format the HDD on all of our own brand copiers we remove. For competitors brands, where we do not know the Service Codes, we can only inform the customer of the risks.

Blunder #7: They avoid closing the deal. What they do: They spend so much effort into building the opportunity that they never quite get to the business of closing it. Why they do it: They’ve invested in the opportunity that they’re afraid that the answer will be “NO”, which will mean that all that effort was a waste of time and that the prospect doesn’t really “like” the sales rep. What happens: The opportunity dies on the vine or goes to the competition. Your Action Plan: To avoid this...

Price at your acceptable margin. If your price is paid, take the business since it already has the acceptable margin. If customer will not pay your price, walk, secure in the knowledge that taking the deal would not provided your acceptable margin. I think we are overcomplicating it. Deal XYZ on a P4P has $X of equipment margin, $Y of lease margin, and $Z of service margin at the agreed rate, regardless of whether we are billing single or double click. If $X+$Y+$Z is acceptable, move...

What type of user is it and how heavy is their usage???? Do they have a service contract with you to cover that Plotbase server? Did you offer them a contract on the server? You may be able to sell them on the benefits of the scan to folder capabilities and the fact that the new model no longer needs that extra PC running Plotbase. Beyond that I'd say get another PC and reload plotbase but they need to be aware that the technology is moving forward and plotbase will not be supported forever.
