Merlin -- you are absolutley right...like any business there are several costs. but you never know if a dealer had special terms with a their manufacturer to order x amount - or if they were trying to acheive a certain level to hit their quoata or win some award? I don't understand how companies feel comfortable running at a loss,and I don't understand how customers award contracts to companies that are not operating at a profit. If I was a purchaser looking for a vendor the first thing I'd be thinking about is will I still be dealing with the same company by the end of the contract. These guys are RIPE for a takeover.

Attached is a useful Excel tool, that service departments will stand behind, no matter what marketing indicates. On the 60/75 engines, they are only spec'd to run up to 34lb bond through trays 1-3, and 43lb bond through the bypass. 43lb bond does not even equate to 110 index, as marketed, only 90lb index (just). Could the number have been 5574 rather than 5447? The reason I ask is 24x36 is 5574 sq. centimeters. Try this formula while in excel: =((cell ref.*.394)*40%) This gives you one dimension =((cell ref.*.394)*60%) gives you the other dimension. Example (5574*.394)*40%) = 24 inches ((5574*.394)*60%) = 36 inches To convert centimeters to inches multiply by .394 24 and 36 are 40% and 60% respectively of a whole.

On a seperate note, I don't like a reward for the person who gets first the most times vs the person with the highest % over quota for the year. If it is the same person either way great, but the possibility exists that a consistently good rep would lose out to the roller-coaster rep. I have also always utilized a G.P. quota as well and had the winner be the one with the best average...i.e. 200% sales & 100% G.P. would be a composite 150% as would 200% G.P. & 100% sales. We installed PD 5 in a law firm with an MPC6000. It installed well, took some tweaking (as I understand) to work with their software and accounting system as it is ProLaw and does not have tab delimited nor CSV. We just printed the customer list,scanned it in, and converted to an excel file and gave it back to get it into the system.
